I recently stayed at the Metro Plaza Hotel during a business trip. My goal was to find an inexpensive yet safe hotel near Union Station. I was very pleased with this hotel. The hotel is old, and is showing its age. However the room (end of hall, 4th floor) was extremely large, had a sun room / kitchenette combined, plus... More

THIS IS A 2 STAR HOTEL at a 4 STAR PRICE. Although it is Cheaper than a few Places in the area I would rather pay $20-$30 more for a REAL 3-4 Star Hotel a bit further from the road. The bed bugs I got has made me spent over $500.00 in pest control expenses. DO NOT STAY IN ROOM... More

We stayed at the Metro Plaza Hotel recently. Although it is old inside, it is clean, and the staff are very friendly. They had a continental breakfast that was enough to fill us up (although no protein unless you put milk in your cereal). What was great was that it was a 3-minute walk to Union Station where we caught... More

I stayed here one night before leaving from Union Station on an Amtrak train to Chicago. Is only about two blocks from the station so you can easily walk from one to the other. (However, I'd think twice about walking around here at night; there are quite a few homeless people and there won't be many other pedestrians.) Olvera Street... More

Older Hotel is modest and basic, ok for a night or two. Close to Union station. Not very clean, found hair on towels and sink faucet dripped all day and night. Front desk staff was not helpful and not very friendly. We asked about finding a certain street and were told to look it up on the computer. Continental breakfast... More

Being so close to Union Station, downtown LA, and Chinatown makes this a great location. The hotel is comfortable - by no means plush, so the price is for the location, not the amenities. But if you are looking for a base to enjoy LA, this is great. If you are wanting a comfortable vacation to enjoy swimming and hotel... More

For a 1 or 2 night stay this might be OK but there was no way for me to unpack - no drawers, only 4 hangers, no space to even open up my suitcase, a little dingy, a little bit of a moldy odor in the corridors, small/thin bath towels, the room's air conditioning wasn't on when I checked in... More

We stayed overnight while waiting for a train. This hotel is a easy 2 block walk from Union Station. I would recommend it for that reason. And if you don't want to walk it will be a 5 dollar taxi ride to the station. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was older, but clean and comfortable.... More

We spent seven weeks travelling the USA and Canada by train on a modest/moderate budget, so were constantly on the lookout for comfortable and affordable accommodation convenient to Amtrak and VIA Rail stations. The Metro Plaza Hotel did the job admirably. Arriving off an early flight into LA we were very surprised and delighted to be given access to our... More

This modest hotel is in a perfect location for anyone using the Union Station in Central Los Angeles. I booked this hotel for the location when I was arriving by train from San Luis Obispo and wanted a transit stay before I boarded a flight at LAX the next day. I was initially a bit wary of the location as... More
