We enjoyed our stay at this hostel, even if we weren't too fussed with the Hollywood area. They have great social activities every night and have a lot of information about surrounding attractions and tours. We were really happy with the tour the hostel ran, along with the information they gave us that enabled us to do the Runyon Canyon... More

The location and actual motel itself is very good. The room layouts are also decent even when it is an 8 person room. Each room comes with a small kitchen or seems too. Layout of the hostel is similar to an old school motel where everything revolves around an open common area. I would recommend not staying here if you... More

I have stayed here before 3 years ago and gave it a 4 star rating. However, some things have changed since. We had just arrived from a long flight from Australia. My partner (who has stayed at Banana Bungalow twice in the past) had his luggage forgotten by the airline and it was going to be sent to the hostel... More

We stayed in both the private room and the dorms and found that both were extremely hot and in serious need of air conditioning rather than a fan which seemed to just blow the hot air around. The staff were nice and the breakfast was sufficient (cereal, fruit, toast, tea). It's good value for money and we would stay here... More

This rating is for a high 3 stars, because it has it's perks. I stayed at Banana Bungalow Hollywood twice in one trip, and my second time was way better than the first. First off, you will do yourself a favor if you just pay the extra few dollars to stay in the traveler dorm with the kitchen. That is... More

We stayed here because their website made it look pretty nice and there were some cheap rooms. We were a bit surprised by the exterior but figured it would be better on the inside. It really wasn't. The place looks like an old converted motel, which it probably is. The front desk was friendly, but they wanted us to pay... More

I actually found the hostel/hotel to be pretty good to be honest. Good service! Strategic location and clean bedrooms! Booked the private rooms for abt 7 days, and I have no complains. For the price, it was pretty good! But definitely the plus point is the amazing location right along hollywood boulevard.

Very good location, great thing the free parking. The guys who works here are very nice, they will help you with anything you might need with a smile on their faces. I might consider coming back but I will never stay in the budget dorms anymore. I was in the room 108-109. Not sure these are the only ones in... More

This place was cheap and had a reasonable bed and bathroom. However I would not stay here if you want to do things in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills or get to the beaches. It was quite a walk to the Chinese Theatre and info desk. The staff were very unhelpful when we arrived early in the morning. We knew that... More

We stayed in banana bungalow for 4 nights! We were in a private room which was well equipped! The staff are all very helpful, upon arrival we were early for check in so stored our bags and were offered breakfast and told about the tours they organise! One of which we went on and was great value! There was a... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
