Bar crawl was super. They were out in the back selling drinks for a tip, and then organised a trip into Hollywood into some clubs at which point I was mashed and can't remember. Parking I took the last slot on the inside but looked very crammed. Rooms were OK, bunk beds, very small rooms showers were OK. Had a... More

I recently stayed here with my brother and his friend. He had stayed here before and really enjoyed it so wanted to stay here again. I've never stayed in a hostel before so I was a bit worried about what it would be like. We stayed in a private room right at the front of the courtyard. The room was... More

Was a reasonable stay. The rooms had plenty of floor space, a kitchenette and dining table. The bathrooms were also reasonable. Plenty of night activities and staff were helpful with directions. The sheets wernt very clean, I had to ask for new sheets due to a 'white' stain. If you are staying for a short period of time, I would... More

I stayed here for my first 2 nights in the USA and it was absolutely lovely. I'd never stayed in a hostel before but the staff were lovely and incredibly helpful when I was trying to find my way around LA. I met some great people from all over the world, mostly students travelling on their Christmas/New Years break and... More

We enjoyed our stay at this hostel, even if we weren't too fussed with the Hollywood area. They have great social activities every night and have a lot of information about surrounding attractions and tours. We were really happy with the tour the hostel ran, along with the information they gave us that enabled us to do the Runyon Canyon... More

The location and actual motel itself is very good. The room layouts are also decent even when it is an 8 person room. Each room comes with a small kitchen or seems too. Layout of the hostel is similar to an old school motel where everything revolves around an open common area. I would recommend not staying here if you... More

I have stayed here before 3 years ago and gave it a 4 star rating. However, some things have changed since. We had just arrived from a long flight from Australia. My partner (who has stayed at Banana Bungalow twice in the past) had his luggage forgotten by the airline and it was going to be sent to the hostel... More

We stayed in both the private room and the dorms and found that both were extremely hot and in serious need of air conditioning rather than a fan which seemed to just blow the hot air around. The staff were nice and the breakfast was sufficient (cereal, fruit, toast, tea). It's good value for money and we would stay here... More

This rating is for a high 3 stars, because it has it's perks. I stayed at Banana Bungalow Hollywood twice in one trip, and my second time was way better than the first. First off, you will do yourself a favor if you just pay the extra few dollars to stay in the traveler dorm with the kitchen. That is... More

We stayed here because their website made it look pretty nice and there were some cheap rooms. We were a bit surprised by the exterior but figured it would be better on the inside. It really wasn't. The place looks like an old converted motel, which it probably is. The front desk was friendly, but they wanted us to pay... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
