Ok stayed here for a few days as was so close to the beach. Where do I start there was a homeless guy building a shack outside our window. The area is very shady the were people dealing drugs all over the area and property nothing happened to us we were just a bit apprehensive when we arrived. I would... More

The city should condemn this place. It is not fit for human habitation. It should be illegal to charge money to stay here. It is run down, shabby, dirty, and moldy. The non smoking rooms are just rooms which have been smoked in for decades with burn holes everywhere plus a no smoking sign on the door. There is no... More

We've been in near beach hotels in Venice area. One common thing with those are if you count out the super expensive is that they are quite pricy and still poor. If you like to go to the Venice Beach at the parking is always a problem and usually you end up paying 15-20 USD. This Marina Seven Motel is... More

I felt the price was too high, but it seemed to be the going rate. Transient crowd outside might spook some people, and being close to Venice Beach, I'm sure there's been bad scenes with rowdy guests. We saw a lot of young folks traveling in groups, drinking a bit, but nothing too bad. Other than that, the room was... More

Had looked for accommodations while visiting family in Santa Monica during high season. Didn't need a beach location just a clean place and good value to sleep and shower... was out most of the time. This place was expensive for location and accommodations. Booked thru Booking.com. I think the regular price was $50/night. Paid $150!! Would have been just as... More

What a disappointment! As soon as I saw the black, grimy path from the door to the bed, I planned on calling relatives who lived around the area. I was hoping they would put us up for the night. Looking around, my husband and I could see areas where dust was thick. I thought maybe the two pillows were ok.... More

We booked this motel in advance via Booking.com. Better not! The motel itself was standard looking from the outside. The receptionist was ok. Not very friendly but ok. We were traveling with two families and two childs. The room was clean but the Bathroom was horrific. All four walls of the bathroom were covered with mould. Terrible. But the worst... More

We stopped in at the motel on a weekday evening and were not only bluntly lied to by the attendant about the rate of the hotel but he also pocketed about 15$. As it turned out the next day when I picked up our receipt from the "front desk", the evening front desk attendant had checked us in at a... More

I booked this hotel because of the good rate for my family of 4, the rooms are big and dated, but the rooms where clean and big, for the price I could not complain. I walk to Venice beach with my kids only a few blocks away and there is a nice Mc Donald’s next door. I don’t recommend walking... More

Visiting Venice beach and Santa Monica, Marina 7 was the best value we could find in short notice at $129/day. It's location was close to the water and upon first appearance it looked like a well kept motel. The rooms were clean enough until my son found a bloody syringe in the bedside drawer next to a bible. Assuming it... More

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
