The staff members were all very nice and friendly. For sure, I will not forget them. However, the Hotel is the worst I have ever lived in. You have a kitchenette but no kitchen utensil. The temperature in the room is around 80° F / 25° C (it is not a joke) and there is no conditional air in rooms.... More

We really appreciate the start of the review, But we are right next door to the Port Authority Police, FBI, Homeland Security, and in a Industrial area not with a lot of people, no transient action, just as stated 3 blocks from the ocean (world beautiful port and dock for your private enjoyment if you chose, but I'm so sorry... Seriously. Half of the rooms are rented out to people that are released from prison and have no where else to go. Never had problems with them though. Seems as if they are trying hard not to get into trouble. Met 1 guy that just got out for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. Staff VERY friendly.... More

Cock roaches, dust mites, bed bugs became our friends! They bit us so bad that we must leave to find another hotel in the middle of the first night! There was no fan, no air conditioning, window, door, all broken! Towels were old and not changed! Microwave, Kitchenette, size like an individual bathroom that fits only one person! Room had... More

One nite Stay Monterey Inn we can't please everyone, but we try since September 11th we have been bombarded by travelers, and we love it, although we have a 99 percent like / love us, ratio...... Heres the real reason that 1 percent might have a problem and definately hate us. first let me say we've never had dust mites,... More

We stayed one night at this "hotel" because we were boarding a cruise the next morning. A) This place is in a seedy part of town. B) The hotels reservation system consists of lost emails and mis-placed phone calls between the owner and staff. C) The decor consists of stickly floors and dust both in the hallways/common areas and the... More

#244 On the Beach Hotel in Los Angeles
Official Description (provided by the hotel)
`1800's Historical Hotel, one of Los Angeles Last Bordellos, 3 blocks from the ocean, Industrial/Commercial (beautiful dock) peaceful, 10- 15 minutes from the beaches in both directions. Good ocean air, we are on a vaccum belt the air is pretty much from the ocean, sometimes from the city, we are 10 degrees cooler then downtown los angeles, and Hollywood only because of the ocean, and us being on it. (closes beaches cabrillo beach/point fermin north/ south Long beach pike/ or North Shore/Seal Beach. Park with view area walking distance good for bicycling, skateboarding, meditating, sunning, skating. The Ext, is 1800's simple, the lobby looks 1800 and simple, (Friday, Sat, Sunday) Continental Breakfast, but remember the prices are fantastic so you have money for breakfast at Trumps. The history is vast, this hotel was establish predating the oil rush in los angeles and water surrounded this very hotel, so that when you enter it's different to find that you would be standing years ago in water, they have photos to prove it...
