Booked a room for 6/20 so I wouldn't have to drive home after a concert. I was really looking forward to my stay. Imagine a hotel staff with the hospitality of a club bouncer, whose job it is to make you feel as unwelcome as possible. Guests are not treated like guests, more like intruders. The main reason I booked... More

The Standard is a very high end hotel. I enjoyed their bar and pool area. At night they have the upper level….an outdoor bar with music. It is also centrally located to restaurants and the night life.

The Standard hotel chain is one of my favorites. This particular one is fun with a pretty good place to eat, very comfy bed, great amenities, good view, and convenient location in DTLA. People hate on the decor of this hotel chain, but it is not outdated, it is stylized. All the staff members were very helpful and accommodating too.

I honestly don't understand why everyone is raving about this spot. At least if you are going to be in LA for business... for party? Maybe. In short, I left after the first night and went to stay at The Loews Hollywood (which was AMAZING... the difference was night and day) Why did I leave? I arrived after a long... More

I stayed a week for business at this hotel. While it is known as a hipster Mecca, I found the hotel quirky, fun and very comfortable for a business travel. The location is very convenient to anything in Downtown LA. The rooms are very large and the bedding is comfortable. There are a few odd characteristics to it, but I... More

Very clean and friendly hotel I reserved a table here for lunch and made use of the views from the rooftop terrace. Recommend this for its atmosphere and excellent service levels. I will book here when I'm in LA next.

This was a rather interesting hotel experience. I usually stay in West Hollywood, but was looking to try something new in LA. As soon as you enter The Standard, you know it is unique. If it's a weekend, there will probably be a line of hipsters waiting to head to the lively rooftop. The lobby has a cool vibe and... More

I had been wanting to stay at The Standard ever since I visited the Biergarten at the NYC location last year. When the opportunity came up on a recent business trip, I jumped at the chance. I was most impressed with the staff (front desk, valet, restaurant), who were exceptionally polite and friendly. I had one meal in The Restaurant... More

I've stayed here several times and I love it! Very artsy, very lively. I wouldn't recommend this place for families. This is definitely an LA hangout hotel. The front desk people are always really nice and helpful. The lobby looks like a trendy lounge. The restaurant is pretty good. And the rooftop bar and pool are awesome. Will definitely stay... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
