Front desk invited me to go to the roof top. On my way there, a bunch of security guys yelled at me indicating that they were having a private event (even though there was nobody there). I talked to somebody who claimed to be the manager but he did not care. I understand that this place is a sort of... More

Definitely hip & trendy hotel. Bed is on a raised platform so its really close to the ground. So if you have problems getting in and out of bed, that is definitely not for you! Great service. Staff are very friendly and responsive. The negatives are that the bath is right in the middle of the room. No doors. The... More

I was staying here as part of a large group and the hotel handled the group beautifully (at least from a guest's perspective). The staff was very friendly and efficient. The rooms are very sparse, no furniture for sitting and there is not a lot of privacy as the shower had a glass wall on the outside. Breakfast in 24/7... More

The rooms were not impressive but the beds were surprisingly comfortable. Great and friendly service from the front desk made up for the old building and rooms. Worse thing about the hotel would be it's location, which is just plain terrible if you're there for a get-away. The roof lounge is great both day and night. Room service and the... More

I just needed a crash pad but wanted a hip spot in downtown LA. Was hesitant to use a 3rd party app to book the appointment, nervous that I'd be treated 'less than,' but did it anyways. Check in was super smooth and easy...and there was no hint of sub-par treatment. Kat was checking me in and was a gem,... More

The score is artificially low for two reasons. The room lay-out and how guests were treated in regard to the roof deck. It resulted in us staying in another hotel for our remaining two nights in LA. First, the good stuff. The service is top-notch and as it should be for a hotel that has The Standard brand. The Front... More

The Standard is a great hotel with excellent customer service. Location downtown is easy to get to and the staff accommodated almost every request that I had. They went over and beyond what I would expect. Great rooftop bar too...

room: modern, loved the shower - glass, clean, bed a bit small but comfortable restaurant: loved the onion steak with fries 👏 rooftop: just 🔝 roomservice: nice reception: I don't know the guys name but he is tall, dark brown long haired; he didn't slip our creditcard through the machine and claimed two days long that our creditcard isn't working... Do not stay here if you are a business traveler. The rooftop club is loud until 1:30. The rooms are barren of anything you might need, and are reminiscent of a hostel. Great place if you're young and looking to party, but that's about it.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
