The hotel itself is a bit retro and dated, but I kind of like the old school colonial charm. It was clean and comfortable and best of all CHEAP, so I can live with tacky furniture for all of that. No breakfast, but there's a Starbucks just down the street for your morning coffee. I didn't get a chance to... More

Our room was a stinky dump. The location is not good and not safe. It's in the dodgy part of West Hollywood. The hotel is dated and needs a refurb. The horrible smell in our room was overwhelming. I won't stay here again. I would choose something closer to nice parts of West Hollywood or just a better motel nearby... More

The motel itself is quite old, but rooms are renovated with air conditioner. 5 min walk to Hollywood/ Western station, about 15 min ride by metro subway to Universal Studio. 10min walk to Thai Town for some good food. Near to Ralph and CVS. Have a computer for surfing the net and free printing service. However, no elevators you have... More

They don't have breakfast, so that's a minus, but they have supermarkeds and restaurantes close. It's clean and safe. The staff are friendly and they help you if you need something. I will probably not come back, but I will recommend it if you are staying for a couple of nights.

Good location, close to metro, friendly, nice pool. Room a bit smelly, as if someone had smoked in it. Clean, very reasonably priced. Fridge, supermarket right next door. Felt safe. But I miss the old, sleazy and exciting Coral Sands.

the first look of the building is deceiving - especially if arriving late at night! inside is a lovely tranquil garden complete with pool and jacuzzi. staff are very helpful and friendly. communal computer, laundry room. room was fantastic with a giant king bed and plenty of space. free parking out back as well. not too central of location but... Spent 3 nights here as our base for exploring Los Angeles. Location is a major positive: situated between West Hollywood, Little Armenia and Los Feliz with Hollywood & Sunset Bvds, Griffith Observatory and Universal Studios easily accessible by car, and in close proximity to the metro. A major supermarket (Ralph's) is adjacent to the motel and so is a "Wayback... More

Picked this hotel for a 2 night stopover in LA given its reasonable price and very close proximity to the Metro. The hotel is old and the decor is overdue for an update. Having said that the room was clean and comfortable and suited our needs. It was also of a good size. Really impressed with the customer service. The... More

This is not a family hotel in my opinion!!! With that being said, I really recommend staying here. It's cheap and clean, and it's near everything LA has to offer and right beside the underground. I will recommend this place to my friends and family and most likely be back. The guy at reception (younger bald Asian dude) was very... More

Just 15 minutes from Universal and Warner Brothers studio away, around the corner of Hollywood boulevard, in Thaitown. The hotel pictures of the lovely little "garden" are misleading, it was more like a wilderness. Could use some green fingers. The check in hall wasn't clean and worn down. The man working the reception was very friendly and helpfull and even... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
