So glad I found the Hollywood Pensione. Other accomodations that I was finding for the area I wanted to stay in either seemed like "dives" or were too ritzy/party-ish for me. The property has the charm and character of an older home and the comfort and calm of the Zen-like decor. Dougald is a gracious and helpful host. He was... More

We had our eyes set on this place for months, after not feeling okay with shelling out huge amounts for "another" chain hotel. The photos sold this place, as did the idea of homemade breakfasts. This small Bed and Breakfast with three rooms is perfect as a base for Honeymooners (like us), tourists, business visitors and more. A bottle of... More

Great place where to stay in LA. Location is very good. The host is friendly and very helpful. The small pensione is lovely, very clean such a nice alternative to chains.. And with the same comfort. Actually a lot more! Lovely breakfast included for a very reasonable price. Definitely recommend it

We stayed one night here and really enjoyed it. Their website had said there was a 2-night minimum, but they were gracious enough to waive that requirement and we're glad they did! Dougald was welcoming, kind, and full of excellent advice without being imposing. The parking is tight but is a welcome amenity. The neighborhood is great with a good... More

What a lovely charming little place to call home for a few days staying in Los Angeles. It's basically a house where the top floor has been converted into 3 super comfortable en suite rooms. What also really makes the difference is the super friendly and helpful owner/host of the place - a cool guy called Dougal. It felt more... More

A charming old house that is quite and peaceful. A great place to relax or explore Hollywood. Everything is close by and Dougal is a great host. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend staying here.

We had a fantastic stay at the hollywood pensione in LA. It was a small place, nice and quiet, and Dougal was a really friendly host, who'd give us tips whenever we needed them. He prepared fresh muffins and delicious fruit every morning. The rooms a clean and nicely done up. There's a kitchen you can use and it's 3... More

Fantastic hidden gem in a peaceful location, however Hollywood Blvd is literally on the doorstep. Facilities were all great, bed was comfortable and the freshly baked cakes and fruit for breakfast made the stay perfect. Dougald is the perfect host and would like to say thanks for making our stay wonderful. Will definitely return here if we make it to... More

We came here last October for our honeymoon. I proposed here so it only seemed right to return. We only stayed for 3 days / 2 nights. Nothing had changed. We stayed in the same room which was nice. The location is superb. We went to the local Oaks Gourmet restaurant which is highly recommended. It's only about 10 minutes... More

My wife and I arrived in Hollywood on Sunday, February 9. We were visiting our son who has been undergoing chemotherapy. Since lodging in Hollywood can be a shot in the dark we had absolutely no clue where to stay. We checked and priced many of the local chain hotels which were no bargain. I found the pensione online and... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
