My son and I went to stay in the room Janis Joplin died in. It's room 105. Perfect location to visit Hollywood and relax later listening to Janis.. The room was huge but could have used a good cleaning. Make sure you sign your name in closet and leave Janis a message.

We stayed here for 5 nights and never had any problems. All we required were the beds and somewhere to shower. We didn't use the kitchen but is was a tad basic. The whole place could do with updating but its probably not at the top of their "To do list". At night we very rarely heard any noise from... More

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst we deove round ca, perfect location for hollowood sights but that is about it! Room was in need of a good deep clean including the carpet edges which are thick with dust! Kitchen was good to have but lacking many items you need like more than 2 cups and glasses would have been good.... More

This hotel has a very convenient location close to the Hollywood and Highland center and the Kodak theater. It is a busy area however, so try to avoid the rooms facing the street as they are very noisy and the traffic never stops. The room seemed very old and in a bad need for an update. As everything is so... More

We stayed here during the 1st week of August in room 108 and had a pleasent check in. Our room was very dated but was large and comfortable. We were given fresh towels every day. The fridge and microwave was handy as there is a CVS pharmacy/supermarket down the street. I didn't like the pool area as it was very... More

It is located a couple blocks away from the walk of fame, restaurants, TCL Chinese Theater. We stayed at room 101 which is next to the public restroom, the smell was not pleasant. The other room we had was 105, apparently this is the room where Janis Joplin died in 1970, there are some hand-writing notes and drawings in the... More

Let’s start with the PROS: Location of the hotel is great. It is within walking distance to all the touristy areas in Hollywood Blvd. The famous Chinese theater is about three blocks away. There are many restaurants and shopping areas nearby. Parking and continental breakfast are included. Front desk staff was very friendly... Well that about summarizes it. Now with... More

If this matches your budget then this Hollywood hotel is great value for money in terms of location and amenities. We loved the small pool area, it wasn't a busy hotel, the kitchenette was perfect with a great supermarket on Hollywood Boulevard minutes walk away. As other reviewers have noted some rooms could do with a refresh but the lobby... More

The ONLY great thing about this hotel is the location. We were in a one-bedroom suite with sofa bed. There were cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling, a plethora of dings and bangs all over ALL of the walls, the bed was hard as a rock and squeaked everytime you blinked your eyes. The bathroom wasn't so bad; however,... More

The Highland Gardens Hotel is located steps away from Hollywood Boulevard (Walk of Fame, Madame Tussaud, Chinese Theatre, Dolby Theatre etc.). The staff is very helpful and friendly. There are definitely two (or more) types of rooms: The ones near the pool in the inner court, and the ones in the corridor-like building (also facing Franklin Avenue). I am not... More
