This is my second time at the JW in a few months. The hotel was just as clean and comfortable as the last visit. The lobby is always busy with some sort of group meeting. I arrived at 10:30 am,earlier than the check in time, and had to wait a short time for my room to be ready. What was... More

Two major issues with the hotel -- First, my initial room had had some kind of really cheap perfume spilled in it and I needed to move to another room. This wasn't caught by the staff and was a big inconvenience -- I had to wait several hours for another room. Second, I was told over the phone that my... More

One of the most complete and utter failures from a customer service perspective. Bell service fails to deliver bags to room. After calling for bags 5+ hours after check in, we wait again for our bags...crickets. Finally, after another 30 minutes of waiting, I go down to bell desk and bags are still sitting in their back room. Ask for... More

I really liked the rooms and the lounge. We had a very nicely sized, modern room and well apportioned ammenities. The lounge and breakfast offerings were much better than the average Marriott. Also, the service is quite good in all aspects from concierge, to front desk, to restaurant to housekeeping, to the lounge. One thing to consider is the location.... More

Finally a decent and reasonable option in downtown LA. Hotel is newer. Room was a good size and clean. Clean, modern bathrooms. Gym was good -- newer equipment. Bar in the lobby is large and attracts a good crowd. Hotel is also connected to the Ritz Carlton which looks like a more elegant option. Good location for access to downtown... More

My family of four stayed here for one night while in the LA area to attend an LA Clippers Game at the Staple Center. We received a AAA discount on the room rate. As a Marriott Gold member I was not upgraded. I did receive admission into the Concierge lounge which was very nice. We had some pre-dinner snacks in... More

Great hotel with nice restaurant, coffee shop, bar and sitting area to sit, relax and enjoy your pleasure. Walking distance to several restaurants and the Grammy Museum. Also, a 10-15 minute walk to the shopping center and other restaurants downtown.

I stayed here on a business trip. Being a platinum member I was upgraded to a junior suite as the executive lounge was not open on the weekends and they couldn't get my preferred room. I really enjoyed my stay thanks to the location. Service was great, even on Saturday evening when the bar was fully crowded. Would love to... More

We came here due to a problem with another hotel. Lucky for us - this was a pleasure. The location was perfect for the convention hall. There were plenty of restaurants around the hotel and the hotel had places to eat as well. The pool and other amenities were great. We were upgraded to concierge because of Gold status and... More

I've stayed at most of the major chain hotels in downtown LA. I prefer the JW over the Marriott, Sheraton, and Westin. Since I'm platinum with both, I'm getting comparable upgrades. The JW still has a freshness to the lobby, executive lounge and rooms. The beds are comfortable and the room is quiet. The hotel is near the convention center... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
