what a gem - an inexpensive, CLEAN, safe and comfortable place right in the heart of downtown LA! Rooms basic, but cool. I-pod radio, sink, huge screen TV, towels and touch response bedside lamp. I had the shared bathroom. Much cleaner than any I found in Europe. Share kitchenette with frig, microwave and dining table if you wanted a save... more

This reminds me of the Base Backpacker chain in Australia and NZ. Cheap, clean, modern decoration, lounge area with internet terminals. My room had a basin/toilet, with the shower just outside in the hallway. It's downtown LA, so not the tourist heart of LA, but it's a good location if you are using Union Station. Close to the Kodak Theatre.... more

My friend and i called a month prior to make a 2 nights reservation, we were given a confirmation number; When we arrived to LA we called at around 4 pm to verify address and inform the hotel that we would be checking in late. They completely dismissed our reservation (even when we gave them our confirmation number that they... more

Well, the STAY is an affordable Place to stay in Los Angles. The rooms are very modern design- but the cheap room doesn´t have bathroom. The smooker rooms stinks really bad....Unfortunatly Downtown L.A isn´t the best place to stay during a weekend especially alone as woman. The Metro Station/Bus and Greyhound bus are reachable in less than 10 min. more

Pleasantly surprised at this hotel/hostel after reading some of the reviews on here. Yes, would agree its more like a hostel/hotel hybrid so if you're looking solely for a hotel you will be disappointed. As we had been staying in private rooms in hostels on our travels this hotel was a godsend for us. Lovely bright, clean room (IKEA furnished),... more

So I should of guessed that this was a hostel, or some sort of on campus housing dorm considering how cheap it was. The website I booked it on did not mention it was a hostel, but looking at the pictures it looked clean and modern enough so I decided to give it a shot. We got in late and... more

A word of warning is to make sure you have enough funds in your account for the deposit that they block for incidentals. You have to wait for 3-5 working days for them to release the deposit after staying at the hotel (in our case approximately $200 was blocked) The windows in this place are paper thin so bring earplugs.... more

Great place to "stay" in downtown LA. Reasonably priced-choice of private or shared baths. ( no hairdryers, though). Walking distance to Little Tokyo, main library, LA Times, and especially the Nickel Diner which has absolutely the best breakfast in town-try the oatmeal! STAY seems to attract a younger crowd; think European languages with expensive backpacks. Free computers, printers, and WI-FI.... more

Ok, I get it. Stay Hotel is a funky, modern take on a hostel, and I appreciate the effort taken to update this old building. It is cheap and has a few good things: clean rooms, daily maid service, friendly desk staff, and FREE WiFi in the lobby (as well as 4 up-to-date Apple desktops). Now onto the bad (and... more
