Rented the hotel out for our company holiday party. Awesome, very clean place. Super cool room with a pool table off the bar area. (horseshoe pit as well) They opened the bar early for us and kept it open late. Even the owner stayed late to make sure we had everything we needed. Great rooms with different themes. Would definitely... More

Los Alamos is a cute one street town, a lovely little get-away just 20minutes south of Santa Maria in the Santa Ynez valley. The 1880 Union Hotel is fun to stay in! Lovely antiques and period furnishings in each room. No mini-bars or TVs in these rooms! And the saloon attached to the hotel is owned by Kurt Russell and... More

Paid extra for a room with a balcony but the balcony was falling apart and we were scared to go out on it! I expected a small room, but I expected a lovingly restored building which this is NOT. Looks like the owners didn't have enough money to do it right and it shows. Burnt out light bulbs abound, the... More

I want to say a special thank you to Dan Thompson and the staff of the 1880 Union Hotel of Los Alamos for providing a beautiful venue for us to host my aunt's 90th birthday party. If you want to host a great party, I highly recommend checking out the beautiful facilities and fantastic brunch that they can provide. What... More

We booked our one night stay last minute, traveling with two small dogs. We'd driven through Los Alamos a couple of months before, after hearing that it's being "revitalized" and that it had some interest by Kurt Russel and some other celebs. Honestly, it didn't strike our fancy at that time...just a wide place in the road. But from the... More

We enjoyed an overnight stay and we will be back! This place is really cool. The old west meets bohemian style - - creaky stairs, great reading room upstairs as well with old leather reading chairs and bookcases full of old reads and games. Outside there is a garden area with horse shoes and a giant chessboard. There are 2... More

It had to have been a brothel! I know they say it was a Wells Fargo but I am sure it was a brothel at some point. When I saw pictures of this hotel online I knew I had to stay here. We stayed for one night and were very happy with our stay. You really feel like you stepped... More

These people did a great job with preserving the circa 1915 feel of this place. And it is just fun. The food is great. The wine saloon next door is great. The grounds are great. Live music on weekends. Los Alamos is a tiny town in the middle of wine country. The 1880 Union hotel is a lovely place to... More

Born and raised in the Santa Ynez Valley, my family and friends outdid themselves by hosting an intimate and beautiful Sunday brunch for a surprise birthday party in the garden of this Historic Hotel. They made my 30th Birthday celebration one to remember - and made possible because of the staff. The 1880 Union Hotel is a a true gem... More

This is like walking into a past time - loved it! Lots of history to this place and you go up a creaking old staircase to the original rooms which are full of antique furniture. Not all rooms have bathrooms. Can't wait to try the suites - they were full. Delicious breakfast interrupted by a visit from a baby possum.... More
