I hadn't reserved a room, as was unsure how we far would go traveling from Yosemite. The Dow Villa didn't have a 2-bed room available, and the Best Western was too far out of town for us, so we tried the Portal. We were given a room in the "Annex" at the back of the motel, and found this to... More

I often stay at the Portal Motel. The owners are friendly and helpful. The rooms, clean, quiet, and adequate. The location is good, within walking distance to restaurants and stores. There is a nearby bakery and breakfast place with excellent food. When visiting the Eastern Sierra, I recommend a stay at the Portal.

Stayed at the Portal Motel in Lone Pine a week ago. The motel room I was in was very basic with a very hard Queen bed with two very hard and quite uncomfortable pillows. In the room was a cabinet, no table, and two chairs, one of which had a significant stain on it. There was a flat screen tv... More

Nothing fancy. No breakfast, but you are next door to McD's if you can stomach them. Grocery store is very expensive on some things, like tide. So be sure you have what you need or better yet, help support the little store & ignore my last statement. Room was clean & I'm staying there again in May.

Very nice lillte room. Room was clean, and updated. Did not expect the room to be so nice. Had a fridge, flat screen tv, coffee maker and a microwave. Bathroom had a tub with a shower. Was very quiet, and the bed was really comfortable.

If you want a motel for decent night's sleep after a long drive through Death Valley then this is it. Checked in with the friendly Lata, straight into our room which was clean, comfortable and air con. Vital at 100'F! Motel is ideally located on the highway through Lone Pine but is set back so you aren't affected by the... More

I stayed here last month for one night for work. It is pretty surprising because it is a nice and clean little motel. Much more than what I expected actually. It's in walking distance to everything in town. I would definitely stay here again if need be. I thought there would be road noise due to how close it is... More

My wife and I stopped here with our 5 month old and could not have asked for a better place to stay for the price. It has been recently remodeled and the staff was very accommodating (brought us extra blankets for the little one). Would def recommend Portals hotel to anyone who wants a clean and comfortable place to stay.

Long road trip and were here just one night. We had been staying in very nice national park lodges and this was our last night. We went for budget. This wasn't much of a budget, but my travel companion didn't want to stay at a chain hotel. We should have. Over priced. Small room, beds are alright, but not real... More

Quiet, clean, and recently updated. The room was a nice size, pleasantly decorated, and with a kitchenette for an unexpected plus. Easy walk to restaurants. Only drawback was the early (10:30) checkout time..
