Went over to the east side of the sierras for the Bishop Mule Days 2015. Drove on down and spent the night in the Portal Motel, I found the updated, clean and quite!! Plenty of places to eat in Lone Pine within walking distance! Host was very accommodating with everything from ice to directions. I would stay there in the... More

We stopped here on the way to Yosemite National Park. The room is clean, the bed and shower good, plenty of space in the room. The only problem is that it is right on the highway, and the trucks just keep rolling on throughout the night. I slept alright but my husband is a light sleeper and the noise from... More

I gave it 5 stars since it is a good value for the money. Having a fridge and microwave was convenient for eating leftovers and the WiFi worked fine. Its not a 5 star hotel, so there are things to complain about if you are so inclined.

Arrived in Lone Pine at 6 AM on Thanksgiving morning with no reservation and tried the Portal based on Tripadvisor reviews. This motel is SUPER clean, has fridge, microwave and coffee maker. I don't know about internet as we didn't need it. We stayed two nights and will definately use this motel when in the area. Highway 395 noise didn't bother use... More

For sure there is nuthin fancy about this place but we came to Lone Pine after a 4 night backpacking trip in INYO and wanted a hot shower, and a clean, quiet room and a good hot meal. There was an upcoming bike race in the area and many hotels were fully booked. When I checked at the office of... More

I hadn't reserved a room, as was unsure how we far would go traveling from Yosemite. The Dow Villa didn't have a 2-bed room available, and the Best Western was too far out of town for us, so we tried the Portal. We were given a room in the "Annex" at the back of the motel, and found this to... More

I often stay at the Portal Motel. The owners are friendly and helpful. The rooms, clean, quiet, and adequate. The location is good, within walking distance to restaurants and stores. There is a nearby bakery and breakfast place with excellent food. When visiting the Eastern Sierra, I recommend a stay at the Portal.

Stayed at the Portal Motel in Lone Pine a week ago. The motel room I was in was very basic with a very hard Queen bed with two very hard and quite uncomfortable pillows. In the room was a cabinet, no table, and two chairs, one of which had a significant stain on it. There was a flat screen tv... More

Nothing fancy. No breakfast, but you are next door to McD's if you can stomach them. Grocery store is very expensive on some things, like tide. So be sure you have what you need or better yet, help support the little store & ignore my last statement. Room was clean & I'm staying there again in May.

Very nice lillte room. Room was clean, and updated. Did not expect the room to be so nice. Had a fridge, flat screen tv, coffee maker and a microwave. Bathroom had a tub with a shower. Was very quiet, and the bed was really comfortable.
