I had just finished hiking the John Muir Trail and needed a place to stay in the pinch. This was the only motel in town with a vacancy. Under ordinary circumstances, I could muster an "average" rating but I have stayed at far better accommodations for ~ $150 a night. The rooms have a tired, barebones, circa 1970s feel to... More

I reviewed this motel a couple of years ago and have stayed there several times since then, including two separate occasions on my last trip to Death Valley, in June and July 2015. It's probably time for an update, and also some responses to other reviewers' comments. In June and July, I stayed in two different rooms in the front... More

My room was in the Annex behind the main hotel building. There were large pickups with construction gear parked outside the rooms and I could barely park between them. The room was clean but the furniture old and tired. The bypass valve on the shower didn't work very well and more water came out of the spout than the shower... More

I could think of a lot better ways to spend $134.40 for a hotel room with shredded washcloths and towels (they could go to Sam's Club and buy enough for the whole motel for about $200.) We requested accessible, what we got was a high toilet with a non-functioning Jacuzzi bathtub about 24" high with no hand rails and the... More

All I can say is stay here if you need to. I certainly wouldn't plan a trip to the area and want to stay at this place. When we flush the toilet it sounds a lot like a faint siren for a fire engine somehow or another. They forgot to put any toilet paper in the room. The bath tub... More

Stayed here at the annex in August for one night. Clean, decent bed, kinda pricey for what you get. Was sufficient for what we needed. Did not use the pool, but it looked clean and inviting. Walked to a restaurant in the area, and there is a grocery store within walking distance.

Found Mt. WHITNEY Motel while head f back home to Southern California. The vintage look caught our attention as we are pickers. They had 1 room available but this room did not have a bathroom. We took it because the other hotels/motels were quite high or no vacancy. We really enjoyed the old feeling and did not mind the community... More

We were rained out from a backpacking trip and rolled into town, and we should have shopped online... Paid $120 for a double, $150 for a 3 bed room, PLUS tax-way over priced for what we got. Sheets were clean, but everything else in the room was in poor repair or needed cleaning. Veneer falling off, hair drier hanging off... More

We were quite happy with the room in the annex that was until we tried to flush toilet with an empty cistern. My husband and found the toilet tap was turned off!! He turned on the tap, cistern filled up, then the water just carried on running and running, so had to turn off tap and then turn it back... More

This is a decent enough place to stopover if you're driving between Yosemite and Death Valley. It was clean and a good size and close enough to walk to the local restaurants. The only problem we had was the car parking spaces are small and there is only one per room so if one person has a large car, or... More
