The boat tour was wonderful but I had a couple of complaints about the inn. The room we stayed in (#2) needs a paint job (marks on the walls) and some fixing up of the walls in the tiny bathroom. When I booked I was told that the restaurant would be open while we were there. They closed a week... More

After discovering this hotel on the internet, we were a little apprehensive and not sure what to expect. However this hotel was great!! It is just outside Lee Vinning and is on a main road however the views and scenery of Mono Lake were fantastic. We had Room 2, which was quite basic with a small bathroom and no TV... More

We had a comfortable, relaxing stay in room #3, what appeared to be a 19th century house converted to a cabin accomodation, complete with front porch overlooking Mono Lake. Dinner was great, ribs and shrimp, innovative and inspired, with a nice Shiraz. Breakfast was also exceptional; their chef seemed to truly care that we were enjoying our meals and the... More

The Tioga Lodge has been restored to as close to the 1800s as comfort and convenience allows by the historian-owner-craftsman. We sat on the veranda in comfortable wood chairs and watched Mono Lake glow with sunset colors. Inside our cottage, we found hand-crafted branch furnishings and a gleaming wooden bathroom floor. It was like time travel with modern conveniences! We... More

Tioga Lodge is the only lodging available next to Mono Lake. Unfortunatly HWY 395 is between the Lodge and the Lake. However access to the shoreline is just a 5 minute walk. It seems that all the lodging in Lee Vining area is right on Hwy 395 and I think the traffic noise problem is bad everywhere. Our room was... More

We stayed at Tioga Lodge during our recent holiday in California. It is a slightly quirky place - all the cabins have different names and decorating styles, so you don't know quite what you are getting. Having said that, our room was perfectly comfortable, although the bathroom could do with freshening up (new seal on the bath, mouldy shower curtain... More

So far I've read good reviews about the restaurant at the Tioga Lodge. So I made reservations for four and came in and the restaurant was empty, except for another table sitting next to us. We ordered their "highlight" menu for the evening, baby-back ribs, pork chops, pepper steak and pasta. Meals comes with salad or chicken noodle soup. Soup... More

Management response:

Dear Travelers, My first responce to this review was if you truly respect Walt and Lou, why did you not approach us with all of these complaints. Going down the list. We do not serve pork chops. It is pecan pork(pork loin). The sauce is made from scratch daily. It is made from fresh canberries and oranges. It certainly does... More

a superb historical lodge overlooking mono lake. excellent location if travelling onto yosemite. the host are very welcoming, book early for evening meal they only have a small restaraunt which although a little pricey the food was excellent. the whole place has a great feel about it right down to the traditional bar with a sawdust floor.

I found Tioga Lodge on Trip Adviser and my visit there was great. It's a bit funky, and it's right next to Highway 395, but just being next to Mono Lake with the spectacular views is like nothing else. After a short time I didn't even notice the traffic noise. My husband and I stayed three nights and I didn't... More
