The hotel is very outdated, small and shabby. If you like to enjoy your neighbours conversations you will love it. We could literally hear every word they said. The walls are made of paper. But... the location is excellent for visiting Mono Lake and Yosemite, the view is great, our room had a coffee machine and we didn't have such... More

Lee Vining - a place to rest before Yosemite. Room was clean, everything was nice. Dining was limited choices. The part we thought was funny, when my wife was checking out, she said hello (assuming the manager) who was so busy counting his cash, he only grunted an acknowledgement - Perhaps is name is Ebenezer Scrooge, could work on his... The motel is very convenient to the east entrance to Yosemite. This is a small, no frills, no extras motel. The room was clean. The room we had did not have air conditioning, but a fan was provided. There is no drinking water fountain, no pool. There was hot water & tea bags at checkin. I could not access the... More

Warm, clean and comfortable. Also open later than other accommodation in the off season. All hotels in Lee Vining are on the road - 395 so road noise is going to always be there. The king room had a great comfortable bed and this place was perfect as a base for our one day trip in to Yosemite. Just be... More

Based on some on-line reviews, I booked two nights at the Yosemite Gateway Motel for a visit to Yosemite National Park. We were extremely disappointed with the room (Room #10), especially the bathroom. I attached a couple of photos as examples. There was no air-conditioning and the heat source was a simple walll-mounted electric heater - in the bedroom -... More

Stayed one night in October. On the plus side it is a great location for Yosemite, it has the fastest wifi of any hotel we visited during our trip and it has brilliant view of Lake Mono from downstairs rooms. The bathroom was nice and new with a good shower. On the downside this really is a motel small sized... More

As many other reviewers, stayed here the night before entering Tioga Pass. Not many choices in town. Fairly average hotel. Small rooms and beds need updating, as do the sliding door entries, but the bathrooms were renovated and are spacious and clean. Beautiful views of sunrise and Mono Lake. Wifi worked well. Our TV didn't work and the owner was... More

3 nights at this Motel, it smelt a little musty when we arrived but a little freshner and everything was fine. Good coffee machine with frequent stock up of supplies and reliable wifi coupled with a comfortable bed made this a good place for us. From the balcony we could birdwatch and see a couple of chipmunks. Very well located... More

Stayed here for a night before heading to Yosemite a couple of hours drive away, it was a very nice place to stay the views over Mono Lake were fantastic. The room was a good size and the bathroom, wi fi was available and a coffee maker in the room. Immediately opposite there is a diner serving mammoth sized food... More

Can second many prior comments: The hotel is overpriced, but it is a sellers' market in Lee Vining (and anywhere below Tioga Pass) in the summer, and this is probably the best of not great alternatives. The "caretaker" is unfriendly but does what he needs to do to get you into your room. The place is dated, with rough edges.... More
