I just came back from 2 weeks in La Jolla and stayed once again at the Travel Lodge. I have stayed here a few times and I just love it. First of all the people are so, so nice and helpful. The location is great. So close to the beach (Windansea....my favorite beach) you walk down early for the sunrise... More

We had to find a last minute place on the 4th of July weekend and this was one of the cheapest locations we could find. The lodge is simple, no frills, but value for money and very comfortable. Breakfast includes coffee, juice, toast, and a selection of muffins & danishes. There is a lovely deck on level 3, from which... More

Decided to stay here a few nights ago and they had one room left, so we jumped on it. The hotel isn't too bad. It's definitely dated, but considering you're in downtown La Jolla, the location makes up for most of the hotel's shortcomings. The front desk woman was amazingly kind. The bathroom was tiny, and the beds were a... More

Don't be put off by the retro look of this sweet old motel. Although it is not part of a chain (although it was--it still is owned by the family that was co-founder of Travel Lodge, and was originally Travel Lodge number 21) and is not fancy, it is comfortable and clean and the greeting you will get from Maureen... Ok location downtown La Jolla; a beautiful village. The motel is small, old and though the family that runs it is sweet, you'll wish for something more updated and pleasant. It's on a noisy and busy corner; the furniture is barely acceptable and the bathroom couldn't be tinier. "Breakfast" is served but is just coffee and a role of some... More

As a motel, it is about average, but at the price they charge per night, you cannot beat their location. We attended the Wine and Art Festival on Girard Avenue. It is just one block off the venue and the main stage is right There! Maureen, the manager, is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are adequate and clean. This... More

The motel was clean and comfortable and you could not beat the location. The motel had everything I needed and the price was right. Breakfast was basic but good quality -- toast, juice, coffee. Parking is limited. It seems like they just barely have enough spaces, especially if you return late at night. I will stay here on future visits... More

This little gem was a great find. Rooms clean, front desk staff very knowledgable, walking distance to beaches and eats. Also public transportation across street. Happen to be there for local music fest. We had a great blues band rite in our parking lot!

We stayed 1 night in August, perfect location and very friendly and helpful owner! Close to restaurants, shopping and beach. With some updates this motel could be even better. We would come back anytime.

The missus and I, never ones to be quick on the draw, were among the last to book lodging for a wedding for which we were singing in San Diego. Yeah, sure, the other attendees were able to stay at the fancy-schmancy hotels, but they missed the hidden pearl of the La Jolla Village Lodge. Maureen, the owner, took over... More
