Spending a few days in an idyllic setting by the ocean is always welcome, and we had occasion to finally visit The Lodge. However, any time the parking attendants are nicer than the hotel staff, and when artwork is literally nailed to the walls, I worry about the high rating of a supposed chic property as this! I appreciated the... More

This hotel is very unique. It was a bit dark to me at first, but it grew on me! The people who work there are very anxious to please! We had dinner in the fine dining restaurant, which we were told was recommended by Conde Naste. It was really good. Unfortunately, it did have a pet peeve of mine which... More

Five star * property for the right guest - probably four star * for the rest of us. I say this because I found this hotel to be a niche property perfectly-suited for travelers that appreciate its unique qualities, but perhaps a bit off-the-mark for those who are neither golfers nor expense account types on corporate retreat nor interested in... We loved our stay at the Lodage at Torrey Pines. In fact, we were blown away by this hotel. This is an interesting, well-crafted, well run facility. Everything about The Lodge at Torrey Pines is well thought out and beautifully executed. Our room was large and comfortable, with lots of distinctive touches. Our room and the parts of the Lodge... We were there for a wedding. Our room was beautiful but a bit dark since it didn't have an ocean view, but the restaurants were fabulous and the staff attentive and accommodating. Since it's near La Jolla, we were able to enjoy that as well. A great experience.

I think The Lodge is a fantastic hotel. My wife and I have stayed there at least 4 times over the years. Yes, the room prices are steep but there is value for the money. The little things, like complete room cleaning and tidying, nighttime turndown service which is almost a second cleaning and tidying of the room, a respect... More

"nice" but not wonderful. This hotel is fine - the rooms are big and comfortable, the amenities are lovely. However, I expected more for the price. The place is rundown. I had no view whatsoever. In fact, I face a path and a tree and that's all I could see. When I checked in I was not greeted with a... More

I can see why golf enthusiasts have been so positive about this hotel in other reviews. For those of us who would rather stick pins in our eyes than watch or play this game the picture is more mixed. Our first impressions were not positive. We had booked a large room with a King Size Bed but were initially allocated... More

The architecture was quite nice, and it was a comfortable week stay overall. Room is sparse and Craftsman style but a good size. Yes, a bit dark as others have mentioned. So if you want bright and happy, this may not be for you. I did notice the carpet was a bit worn, our tub didn't drain properly, and some... More

The Lodge at Torrey Pines earns every one of it's 5 diamonds! It's a beatifuilly designed property with stunning views of the world-famous Torrey Pines golf course and Pacific Ocean. The staff members are some of the best in the business with impeccable service, always with an easy California smile. The food is phenomenal, the rooms are well-appointed (though not... More
