Although the cottages are not on the beach, they are within a 5 minute walk along a colorful, residential street. Beach is sand and interesting rock with lots of surfers nearby. The cottage (ours was called La Jolla Haven) is within a colorful garden with white picket fence around the private brick courtyard. BBQ, patio table and chairs for your... more

i went to la jolla with my dad for spring break. we stayed at redwood hollow and it was great!! the cottages are very pretty and cozy. on a quiet night you could hear the waves crashing on the shore!! it was in walking distance to seal beach (wear there are hundreds of seals all year) and the village with... more

Took two teens over spring break. We loved the space of the two-bedroom cottage, the private patio, and the comforts of home. The cottages all have privacy, and the landscaping is beautiful. The location is about a hundred yards from the beach, a short walk from the seal pond, and less than 30 seconds from the path that goes straight... more

After extensive searching for accomodations during a conference in La Jolla, I consistently read rave reviews about Redwood Hollow. I contacted the property, and they were quick to email information to me in regards to availability and answer several questions I had for them. I arrived at a beautiful property which is tucked away on the edge of the busiest... more

We stayed at Redwood Hollow in January 2007 (me, my wife, and two daughters -- ages 3 and 1). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were huge, the garden was private, and the place was spotlessly clean. The price was also a bargain given we were in La Jolla, less then 2 blocks from a beach, and within comfortable... more

We had an "early-Thanksgiving" with family members flying into San Diego and staying at Redwood Hollow. Booked a two-bedroom cottage and had a wonderful time. The cottages have the feel of La Jolla 50 years ago. Excellent location, close to the beaches and village. The landscaping is tropical. This is not your modern hotel or resort, but more of rustic-type... more

We found this place to be charming and an excellent value! The location allows easy walking access to the water and downtown La Jolla. We loved that it was close enough to all the action, but on a quieter end of Prospect Street. The cottages are rustic, but comfortable and welcoming. Redwood Hollow just gives of a good vibe. HIghy... more

We spent a four day weekend in this hide-away in the heart of La Jolla, about a half block from the ocean. The inn is in a residential neighborhood and sits back from the street, hidden and quiet. The accommodations are a little rustic, but very private and comfortable. Our room had a large private patio surrounded by lush vegetation.... more

This was one of the best short vacations we ever had. The cottage was clean, comfortable, had everything we needed including privacy. At night you can smell the sea air! Each night we were excited after a wonderful day to return to our cosy cottage. In the morning you can hear the seagulls wake up and go to the beach!!!... more

Found this accomodation in Trip. It was everything it said it was. Get away from the boring standard accomodation and stay in an authentic wooden shack. Accomodation was all you need (although it could do with some basic DIY). Fantastic location. We were going to explore San Diego but never made it out of La Jolla. more
