I definitely loved this hotel for 74$ a night! I love how there is no ac and you sleep with the screen door. It's not far from the water, restaurants, stores. It's clean. And well kept up! The wifi works well. You get your monies worth. When I come back I will definitely be staying here again!

We stayed at Sands of La Jolla beginning of October. When we first arrived there I noticed the room was pretty shabby. Painted over mold in the bathroom, a shower head in the bath that barely worked and to top it off ants in my bed. We did not get there until late and was too tired to go to... More

i stayed there for three nights and was right outside the from the pool. Considering the price of $74 per night and its location I don't think you can beat it. Of course for that price there were some draw backs like no air conditioning and it was warm when I was there. So if I left the curtains open... More

We stayed 6 nights in a two queen size beds. The room had flat screen TV and a small refrigerator. Overall the place is very clean, and the beds were impecably made every day. The wifi did not work at all. I asked the front desk for something in alternative, but I was told that there must have been something... More

Historically, I have avoided this hotel, opting for the Travelodge down the road. There used to be some police activity in this area fairly regular...but, to be fair, that seems to be at the hotel next door (Biltmore). Guilt by association. When the Travelodge rates were a bit steep a few weeks ago, I gave the Sands a shot and... More

We stayed for 6 nights. We had a 1 BR kitchen unit. (Unit 201).The property is OK but many elements are mildly annoying. Yes it has free wi-fi. That's good, right? But it is very weak and inconsistent and wouldn't work in the bedroom at all. The kitchenette is poorly appointed with mismatched utensils and glassware. There is a 2... More

I stayed here for 6 days when my son had surgery and the location was perfect for that. Right across the street from his apartment. The room has a small balcony which helped because there is no air conditioning in this hotel. Normally that wouldn't be an issue but it was the hottest week of the year when I was... More

Sands of La Jolla is located in the Bird Rock neighborhood. It's a great location, close to the beautiful Windansea beach, walking distance to some cool restaurants. And it's a short drive to downtown La Jolla. My boyfriend and I stayed here just to fully experience the neighborhood. The rooms are ok - the bedroom area is clean and comfortable.... More

We used to stay here quite often 10+ years ago. We made reservations so we could be in a place that was close to the beach but quiet. I was happy to see the upgrades they have made to the place and we had a great stay overall. I was saddened to see that there are now buildings blocking what... More

This hotel is on the border of LaJolla, but you don't pay the high prices as if you were staying in the middle of LaJolla. In general it was a great place to stay. You can walk or drive to the beach, coffee shops, starbucks, cvs and a bunch of little shops. The one problem we had was the elevator was... More
