I stayed there for a conference held in the Sun Room in February. My room was beautiful: lovely view of the ocean on one side and a view of the pool on another, spacious, and clean. There was a little too much street noise with the windows open to concentrate or sleep, but it was fine when just relaxing. Closing... More

I stayed here on a business trip. Our small conference was held in the Sun room. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The room held 28 people but it was a little tight becasue of the columns in the mioddle of the room. AV support was fantastic. The junior suite was nice although the layout of the bathroom was... Dear TimPA1004: Thanks for taking the time to post comments on TripAdvisor about your recent visit to the Grande Colonial. As I'm sure you noticed, we just completely renovated the Sun Room (in addition to our main lobby and adjacent meeting space). While we could not move the support columns in the room, I think the improvements made to the... More

Here's the deal -- if you want to stay in La Jolla Village proper and you want a view, and you want some services, you have always had two choices: The Grande Colonial or La Valencia. We've done both and the Grande wins hands down -- especially now. La Valencia -- tiny rooms, lots of tourists coming in just to... More

Dear Babs45: What more can I say than "thank you"?! On behalf of our entire staff, thank you for all the great comments. I really appreciate your appreciation for our historic charm. We're certainly not the cookie-cutter-type hotel. Every room is a little different than the next but each has its own unique appeal. And thank you for choosing to... More

Arrived in early morning 1/27/12 @ 12:30 a.m. Was shown to our room, as we walked through lobby, the newely renovated space looked beautiful and we were excited to see our room. We booked a King-suite ocean view it was located in adjacent building. Upon entering room there was a terrible odor in the room (window was open). The decor... More

We only staying one night at the Grande Colonial but loved it. We were able to get a last minute reservation (we were looking at colleges) and stayed in their Colonial Suites which was a little bungalow building off the pool area. There were 3 of us and our Junior Suite was roomy and cozy feeling. The beds, pillows and... More

I stayed 3 nights at the Grande Colonial while in town for a friend's wedding. I found it to be charming and elegant, and different from so many chain hotels that I frequent for work. The staff was amazingly helpful and accommodating; I would absolutely stay there again. While I could hear voices from the adjacent room, I did not... More

We stayed here for a wedding in downtown La Jolla. The pro is that the rooms are quite spacious - a ton of room for my husband and I (huge walk in closet, large bathroom, separate eating area, in-room fridge etc.) Definitely on the larger side of hotel rooms I've stayed in (we had a corner room though, not sure... I booked our rooms directly from Grande Colonial. Upon searching through Tripadvisor's reviews and photos I decided to book a junior suite for $312 per night with a connecting room for $256 per night. Our rooms were 510 and 512. We had plenty of room for our family with 3 children ages 11, 14 and 17. Having 2 queen beds... More
