This is a charming, simple ryokan run by a polite gentleman who speaks good English and very helpful with explaining the sights of the town. It is centrally located ands within walking distance of good restaurants (try the handmade soba place down the road!) and of course the "hells". We were given a large room facing the river. The onsen... More

We stayed here for one night in April, during a three-night visit to Hokkaido. As another recent reviewer put it, this place is dated, but very charming. The rooms were exceptionally large - much bigger than any other hotel I've seen in Japan. (It may be that we got the best rooms since it was so quiet that time of... More

we booked this ryokan for 2 nights, and to be honest, we were quite disappointed there are no aircon in the rooms, only electic fans, and the staff suggested we open the windows (which is fine, since it's cooler at night, and there's a protective netting which prevents insects from flying in) water in the bathroom takes a really long... We stayed here as part of an organised self-guided tour. Pulling up at this small, family-run (we think) ryokan we were immediately impressed by the quick service to come to the car, help with our luggage and arrange valet parking. The common areas and rooms are somewhat dated in an 80s kind of way, but very clean. The highlight was... More

This is a small ryokan hotel in a sleepy little town near Noboribetsu. It is easily accessed via JR Noboribetsu station and 2000Y cab ride of about 15 minutes. We chose not to take the cheaper bus option as it does not run very frequently. The staff here is very friendly and extremely helpful with any of your needs. There... More

We arrived at Noboribetsu, station in a torrential downpour and finding the bus outside asked the driver to tell us where to get off. Unfortunately he forgot to tell us but turned the bus around and took us to the front door, excellent service! The small ryokan is at the beginning of the center of the hot springs area before... We stayed at Oyado Kiyomizu-ya early February 2014. In summary, rooms show some wear and tear, but service was excellent and the food was the best we had while in Japan. The onsen was good and there is an outdoor onsen that men and women take turns using. Japanese onsens are not used as a form of water entertainment so... More

It was an overnight stay while en-route to Hakodate and I've booked it based on the good review from fellow travellers. While the attentive staff makes my stay welcoming, the onsen was disappointing and small.

We choose this hotel to experience the Japanese traditional ryokan and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We reached hotel at about 5pm and it was already dark as sun sets early during autumn + car park was already full, luckily the hotel provided free valet parking. They helped offload our luggage from our car and the check-in was quick as they... More

Excellent authentic onsen. The Japanese style room we chose was very spacious with super comfortable pillows and futon bed (which will be made up for you after dinner). Furniture in room was slightly faded but this adds to the authentic experience. Service was excellent. Breakfast and dinner served in room were very very good. Many dishes served with English menu...
