The hotel is just located beside "the Hell Valley". You can smell sulfur's smell when you go around. If you prefer real, big and different types of onsen, then stay here. Not like many small hotels, this is a big one. I really like the outdoor onsen. During my stay, it's snowing outside. Staying in hot spring while snow flakes... More

This is a large Onsen Resort located in Hell Valley. Very aptly named as there is an all pervading smell of sulphur wherever you go in the valley. The resort is very modern from the outside and inside its just lake any international hotel. Unless you opt for one of the traditional rooms, which we did, you could be in... More

Hotel transfer from Sapporo station available for hotel guest at 500¥ per person. Wifi available at the lobby only. Wonderful spread of buffet dinner. Hotel is within walking distance to Hell Valley (Jigokudani) about 10-15mins. Spacious clean tatami room. Wide choice of indoor and beautiful outdoor onsen. Highly recommended!

An important, worthwhile, and reasonably-priced destination for onsen fanciers! I stayed overnight in a Japanese-style room (west wing) on Thanksgiving Day 2013. The baths were fabulous: about 15 different pools (inside and outside -- and several of them huge!) and seven different water types, spanning two floors. In my 20 hours at the hotel, I spent at least four of... More

Didnt stay at this hotel but you should go here for the best onsen experience. 1500 yen if you enter after 4pm (otherwise 2000 yen per person). Clean, spacious (two levels onsen!) and outdoor experience too. And you can see the Hell Valley as you soak in the water too! Good choice if you are an onsen junkie.

Spent a few nights here while touring Hokkaido a month ago. The Takimotokan is a massive place, and the onsen was a fun experience. We also enjoyed staying in the ryokan style tatami room - a little bit to get used to as a westerner, but no problem and actually a very comfortable sleep. Location is great, right next to... More

We stayed here for our honeymoon in February 2011 with a honeymoon package. Although quite expensive, it is definitely worth the price! We stayed in a very large, traditional Japanese tatami room that is roughly about 250sqft, which is huge for Japanese hotel standards. The dinner was a 12 course meal comprised of some of the freshest sashimi, nigiri, and... More

My wife and me visited this hotel at 28/7/2013. We have visited many hot spring hotels in our Japan trips, we feel the hotel is just at above average mark.. Good thing is: This is a heaven of Hot Spring lovers, with different types of hot spring, Jacuuci pool, outdoor pool..etc But the overall feeling for us, this is a... More
