I've spent one night here in Noboribetsu. The place is situated only a few minutes walk from the bus station and also only a few minutes walk to the hell's valley. It's very clean and tidy. My husband and I stayed here for two nights in February, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is a traditional Japanese onsen-ryokan, complete with tatami rooms, shared baths, and multiple slipper/shoe/sock zones. We (me, my parents, husband, 2 year old child) stayed for 1 night in August 2014. The room was quite basic (as usual in onsen ryokan) but had everything you would need.
