Arrived from Beijing West by train,we phoned Harmony before to arrange a pick up. As the high speed train stations are along way out,we were told that we would have to pay(free pick up is advertised) we agreed to this. But, when we arrived there was no pick up waiting for us. Luckily,we were told that a bus that was... More

The room was relatively clean with air con, TV and comfy bed, the bathroom was clean and the shower was hot. There was a good hotel reception/social area. The guesthouse matches the city as historic and authentic with a great entrance and courtyard. You can book tours and tickets with the help of the staff, most of which speak very... More

Pingyao was without a doubt my favourite city in China. Entering the walled city is like entering another world. The city dates back hundreds of years and continues with many of its ancient traditions. Staff had very good English and went above and beyond to make our trip more enjoyable. We were given assistance booking transport by train from Pingyao... More

When you enter the walled-city at Pingyao you step back hundreds of years in many ways. In terms of modern traveling, you step back at least several decades. There is almost no English any where within the walls of the city. The street signs are sporadic, making navigating at first a real challenge. Pingyao is one of those Chinese cities... More

Booked a room thinking that it would be at the guesthouse but actually it was at their hotel on west street that bears the same name and belongs to the same owner. The place looks nice and the room was clean and well equipped, but the place was undergoing a major renovation at the time I visited so the common... More

The location is great and good local meals are sold cheaply in the attached restaurant. Owner spoke excellent English. The hostel is based around a traditional courtyard. While it was really nice to say in an old building it did mean everything was pretty dirty and already cold/draughty at the start of November. I had booked a dorm, but was... More

We booked this room over a month advance (through hostelworld) as the 2 nights we wanted to stay were during national holiday week in China. To our amazement when we got the the hostel we were told there were no rooms 'available' and were told that we would be sent to a sister hostel. As we no idea what the... More

This place seemed a lively place to stay according to many travel books and it was. Rooms are off a lovely courtyard and its setting in an old Qing building adds to its authentic appeal. Everyone congregates here and its a good place to meet other travellers. The rooms have traditional Kang beds which although a novelty can feel cramped... More

The owners are nice and helpful, though will constantly ofer you all kinds of trips the cost money. Laundry service was the cheapst that we have had (10 yuan for kg). Rooms are very nice and clean. We were at the newer place - in a small alley close to the west gate. Not the best location but Pingyao is... More
