This is a genuine 3 star hotel of exceptional quality and good value for money. Whenever I escape from Phnom Penh in this direction I always stay here if at all possible. Sometimes it isn't particularly at the weekends because the hotel is a favourite retreat for the well to do Cambodians and many NGO workers in Phnom Penh. Good... More

Stayed in Golden Sands for 9 nights and am a travel expert as my job and wanted to research the islands beaches and Sihanoukville's 6 beaches. The hotel is a great location for the beaches and at a good price. Breakfast was good and plenty and the room cleaned every day. Pool just done and great. I found the resort... More

The hotel is close to the Ochheuteal Beach and town area where there are a variety of restaurants to choose from which caters for all tastes. Unfortunately we had bad luck and had to spend the three days indoors due to almost non-stop rain. We managed to visit the biggest market in Sihanoukville on one of the mornings using a... More

Travelled from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville to spend some time in the sun and on the beach... after all that we spent 2 of our 3 days indoors, due to torrential rain and storms. So much for the beach holiday. It forced us to rest after our hectic two weeks in Cambodia. The Golden Sand Hotel staff were very friendly... More

For the room rate, I feel that it is well worth it. The staff are friendly and helpful , offering maps and advice. The overall decor of the hotel is very outdated but it didn't bother us at all. The room was good and all we needed. Breakfast was a little dissapointing as there was no egg options. The location... More

Stayed here as part of an intrepid tour. Highlight was it's proximity to the beach and the variety of options you could choose from at breakfast. Bathrooms in rooms were disappointing - mould on roof and awful smell (think sewerage smell). Plus I was not the only tour member to comment on bathroom smells. My door would not open and... More

Overall a good hotel, rooms ok, Nice pool and very central with an easy walk to most places, but without any noise (apart from the pool in the evening) . Good breakfast and staff very friendly. Would stay there again!

Stayed here as part of a group tour, the description was 'basic' but it exceeded my expectations to the max. Lovely spot, close to the beach and the beachfront lifestyle. Rooms were clean and well but also had a few lovely touches. The pool and neighbouring cafe was lovely and the few days we spent were some of the most... More
