We had just finished a visit to the sequoia national forest and were looking for a place to stay. Rose at the front desk went the extra mile to help get us a room, offering to give us an amazing room if we could wait while she cleaned it up (this is at 9:30pm!). The beds were amazing in this... First off, I need to preface my review by mentioning that my husband has come to The Kern Lodge with his family since he was 8 years old so that's about 1957. TKL was built in 1955 with 14 rooms. I met my husband in 1974 and we continued the tradition of meeting his family at The Kern Lodge for... More

It wasn't a luxury hotel but very fitting for the area. Rose who taking care of the reception ship area was a sweet and helpful woman. The rooms are rustic, spacious and clean. I would definitely stay here again. It has a pool, bbq area with a fire pit where you can hang out with family and friends. And it's... More

We stayed at the Kern Lodge Sunday night. We had driven about 5 hours to get our son to summer camp in the area, and it was too dark to drive back home through the winding canyon. We had no idea where to stay. We came upon Kernville and my husband said how about staying in this little town. We... More

Thank you for the great review! I remember you well. You and your husband looked so tired that I just wanted to make sure you had a quiet room with a comfy bed. Glad it was appreciated :) Please come see us again sometime when you can stay longer and enjoy the rest of what Kernville has to offer. Rocky... More

We called a few days before Memorial weekend not expecting to get a room but luckily they had one. We only live 1.5 hours away but it's nice getting away sometimes sans children in the lower mtns. The Kern Lodge was great, pleasant people, nice room, great town. Suggest highly for either one night or longer stay. Right by the... More

What a great review! Thank you. We try to get people from Ridgecrest to come more often to Kernville. So close and yet a world away. Having grown up in Ridgecrest and vacationed in the Kern River Valley most of my younger years, I can speak from experience that it is worth the short drive from Ridgecrest to vacation in... More

We stayed at Kern Lodge June 5/6, 2015 as part of a larger group on a cycling trip. If you are looking for a luxurious hotel then you are probably looking in the wrong town and need to re-set your expectations. The Kern Lodge is an older establishment and on the rustic side. That said, the room was exceptionally clean... More

I stayed at the Kern Lodge for a few days in April. The scenery, the location and even the rooms weren't too bad. My issue was with the poor management and condescending hotel receptionist, Glo. My friend and I were super polite and excited to stay, but something about the way Glo spoke down to us, left a bad taste... More

Hello, I wanted to let you know that I deeply apologize from the bottom of my heart for the way I handled things during your stay. I believe it to be in my nature to meet expectations as this has been a first where I have offended a guest. It is something I wish to apologize for and hope that... More

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The king bed was SO comfortable and the sheets were soft and luxurious! We had fun playing pool in the game room. The ladies at the front desk were very nice. You can tell the owners have worked hard to make this older hotel cute and clean. A very "family" hotel. I loved... More

Thank you for your review. You are so correct that my neighbor, the Brewery, is rather noisy. I am in the process of trying to "noise proof" my upper rooms, without asking the Brewery to be quiet! I did want to tell you the the knotty pine is actually Incense Cedar from the Johnsondale Mill when it was producing lumber... More

Thank you for describing Kernville so perfectly! It is a little piece of heaven hidden in the Kern River Valley. You mentioned that you were in Room 103. All my rooms are different with different names. You were actually in the one of our smallest rooms, with one of the best views. It must have been a surprise after Vegas,... More

A lovely little town, full of friendly people and a clean, spacious lodging house to base yourself. Walking distance to the bars and all the restaurants, and lots of daily adventure activities such as rafting, canoeing, walking, cycling etc. A well stocked good value supermarket opposite, and the room even had a microwave as well as tea and coffee making... Your review made me smile. Thank you for telling everyone about the wonderful things available in Kernville. As for Bear Country, I decorate several rooms with pictures of Bears, but I truly have only seen one bear in the 23 years I have lived in Kernville. However, we often have deer, raccoons, red foxes and river otters in our small... More
