rented one of the 4 new cottages ( manufactured home) with a straight on view of the Trinity river cascading over rocks. The staff was excellent. Don the owner made you feel like your returned home. He also does every thing. The fishing is right out the front door. The bed felt like a down comforter. No TV. No cell... More

This was our first stay at Strawhouse. Last minute reservation for studio unit was professionally handled. Such a nice experience. Unit located across street from river, but easy access to beautiful, grassy, river-front area. No swimming at locale, but lots of access in other areas of river nearby. Large, open room with comfy seating. Refrigerator. Swamp cooler worked well. Immaculate.... More

Don and Julia made a special effort to acomodate our group that went rafting with Bigfoot Rafting next door. The Pizza alone was worth the drive but when you add in the accomodations right on the river it goes beyond special. Thank you so much for the hospitality.

My husband and I own a bed and breakfast, and were just exhausted after a (thankfully) busy summer season. We needed to get away from everything - people, telephones, and tv. The Strawhouse provided just what we needed. We stayed in the Yurt, and it was an amazing experience. Cozy, comfortable, and yet lots of room to move around in.... More

Recently stayed in the 'YURT' with my wife for my birthday. After our rafting trip we were ready to unwind and get comfortable. Unfortunately we had to check in on one side of the highway and cross back over to unpack. Upon arrival we were supposedly 'given' a bottle of champagne to welcome me for my birthday by the owner's... More

My husband and I just left the Strawhouse Resort where we stayed in The Yurt. First let me say that the drive from Redding to Big Flat is interesting (to say the least). Not much on rt. 299 so make sure you load up the tank in Redding or Weaverville. When we arrived at the cafe for check everything went... More

We were driving the trinity river hoping to find a place on the river we could sit on a patio of our room and enjoy the beauty of the river. There is a dearth of places driving west to east on 299. We drove by here and stopped in. What a treat! The owners, Don & Julia, are the most... More

My wife and I spent a perfect afternoon relaxing by the Trinity River. We had Don prepare dinner and he is an outstanding chef. The charming cabins right on the river are very nice, clean, comfortable, and up to date. The view is simply to die for. If you want to dine in, bring groceries to prepare in your full... More

Zoning is a bit peculiar in this region, so despite the address location referencing Junction City, it’s actually 20 miles east on 299 towards Willow Creek in a little town called Big Flat. You can’t miss it – BIG YELLOW BUILDING on the left if coming from Route 5. Be sure to request room service, otherwise they will not do... More

Alex, thank you so much for your review! We are honored that you stayed with us and enjoyed your experience. We have updated our WiFi, and now have it in the cafe' and parkview cottage and 30' yurt, and hopefully we will have it accessible in the riverview cottages soon. In the off-season (Labor Day through Memorial Day), the cafe'... More

This group of cabins isn't actually in Junction City. It's in Big Flat, which is about 20 minutes west of Junction City. The property has four newer "cabins" (actually modular homes), some older cabins that are being renovated, a new "Yurt," and RV parking spaces. Most are across the highway from the river. But three of the newer cabins are... More
