The best things about this hotel are not the sleeping, but everything else that makes this a wonderful experience. The linen tablecloths, napkins, and real silverware make breakfast here such a joy. The cozy parlor with books and games is simply wonderful. The small rooms are not a problem at all - but the bed could stand some improvement. Ours... More

We have stayed here for over 35 years and the owner and his wife and girls always make us feel welcome. We love the fact that there is no TV or phones in the rooms and that you can enjoy our fellow travelers in the parlor over tea in the afternoon and play board games and just unwind in the... More

We got one of the few that had room to walk on both sides of the queen bed! we checked in about 1/2 hour early, and were told to go upstairs and choose the room we wanted. Since other people had arrived even earlier, most of the rooms with walking space were taken, so most of the ones that were... More

I saw this place on living social and thought I'd give it a try. What a gem it is. One is transported back in time to the late nineteenth century in this tastefully designed bed and breakfast. Not only are the staff gracious, hospitable and very helpful, but on our stay the guests were warm and very open as well.... More

This is our second visit to this B&B and we love it. The restored Victorian rooms are small but very comfortable and clean. The lobby and parlor are great places to read, build a puzzle or play games. No TV's here, you will have to rough it! We love the idea of getting into town early and having the opportunity... More

Great stay at the Julian Hotel! Loved the quaint room, comfortable bed, clean amenities, and delicious breakfast. Visit the Julian Cafe for a meal and walk down to the neighborhood bookstore to find a good read (refreshingly, the rooms come without a TV). We'll be back again soon!

We Love This Hotel! It is a true gem! We are a repeat visitor. We spent 2 nights (12/31/14 and 1/1/15); my husband and 2 teenage daughters, and everything was amazing. We arrived early and were allowed to check in, freshen up and have a cup of coffee. The staff were so gracious and helpful. In the morning the breakfast... More

I stay in, and review, a lot of small hotel/B&B type facilities in the U.S. and around the world (mostly Europe) and it's always hard to compare different countries and different cities because the standards in a particular location and the desires of each guest vary greatly, so I try to compare a particular hotel or B&B with other comparable... We are pleased to see that you enjoyed the Hotel. Yes some rooms are more quaint than others due to the history of the building. We do have larger rooms on the first floor and the cottages that may fit you better. However we are glad you enjoyed your stay. More

As Julian's most historic bed and breakfast, the Julian Gold Rush Hotel, circa 1897, offers legendary charm and serenity in this secluded hamlet just an hour of two from most of southern California. When I ponder the word "legendary" as pertaining to a resort or hotel, the thought of being "tired" comes to mind. Not so with this property. It... More
