This inn was so welcoming after miles of sand and mountain driving. We were able to choose our room, which was small, but well-appointed. The public areas were particularly charming with plenty of games and books available. The tea and the breakfast, both included, were delicious. Julian apples topped the French toast. The hotel, originally owned by an African American... More

This is a great historical area, and hotel once owned in the late 1800's by the Robinsons, an African American family living in the town of Julian, which holds many distinctions, including having had at one time the largest census amount of African Americans, including some of the city's founders, in the county, and one of the furthest south gold... My husband and I decided to tag on an extra stop in Julian to our vacation. We called a few hotels in the area the night before and found that for just a few dollars more we could stay at the Julian Hotel and have a REAL breakfast rather than just a continental. It ended up being even more of... More

We had a nice experience here. I took my husband here for the night on Father's Day. We had an upstairs room. I read reviews and expected it to be small. It was very small...room 4. The hotel staff were very nice. The scones and cookies at tea time were good. Breakfast was delicious! I loved the little parlor area... More

My husband and I , on the spur of the moment, decided to stay here versus going to a brand hotel in San Diego. I am so glad we did! What a wonderful, relaxing place! The staff was so hospitable, helpful, friendly and welcoming. The room was quaint and beautifully decorated. It was exceptionally clean! We had a second floor... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here Memorial Day weekend. The location can't be beat, right in the heart of town and no more than a few minutes walk to everything. The rooms are small but very well appointed and cozy. We didn't have any ghostly encounters lol. Breakfast and tea time were well done and the board games were a... More

We can only confirm all the positive reviews. We stayed in one of the 2nd floor rooms; it was small, but comfortable enough for a 1 night stay (the bathroom was nice). After exploring the quaint shops of Julian (including a delicious slice of apple pie), we spent the rest of the evening in the parlor of the hotel. We... More

Needed to get away for just a few days. My back injury and all the doctors appointments and paperwork and anxiety regarding an upcoming surgery were wearing me down...so Karen and I headed back to Julian; to the only place we stay. The peace and quiet and wonderful breakfast and the afternoon tea. We just keep coming back.

What a wonderful gem this hotel is! Don't come, if you would like to have big flat screen TVs in your room, but do come if you enjoy afternoon tea, lovely homemade breakfasts made to order and served expertly. The rooms are lovely and well decorated, but of course in line with the idea of the hotel being an old... More

The building is beautiful and its right in town but man talk about a tiny room. I understand its part of the history and all but it was very cramped. We stayed on the second floor and the bathroom in our room was very nice and modern. More so than I would have expected. All in all the room and... More
