we have been visiting Idyllwild for about 20 years and have always stayed at the Fern Valley Inn. The Inn is quaint, the rooms are comfortable and the location is in good. Each room has its own personality. The website is descriptive for the rooms. There is new ownership and they are very accommodating.

We stayed 2 nights in a rustic little cabin at Fern Valley Inn. Cute little cabins. Clean and cosy. Nothing fancy, but very nice with a fireplace and some nice touches like wine glasses in the rooms. The owner was very nice. The price was better than we expected. Nice little gazebo outside. We had our lunch out there and... More

I am not one to write negative reviews but I can't keep quiet about my experience at the Fern Valley Inn. I was up in Idyllwild for a friend's wedding that was scheduled to start at 4pm. and stopped by earlier in the day to find out when I might be able to check in. Perry ( who someone else... More

I left a rave review last year. Since then, it's completely lost it's "charm". We stayed two unsatisfactory nights in Cottage #6 - Willow Tree. 1) Under Construction - We were not made aware of until check-in. There were dangerous ditches and caution tape everywhere. 2) Pool closed - The website was since updated, but when we made our reservations... More

Looking for a reasonable no-fuss getaway within two hours of your home? Need the peace and quiet of a little mountain hideaway without being too hidden? Come idle awhile at the Fern Valley Inn in Idyllwild. The FVI allows one night stays on a Friday or Saturday! That suited our needs. The property/grounds are a bit chewed up right now... More

So many problems with the room that we didn't want to stay the 2nd night. First impression was a dirty porch & chairs plus a screen door that wouldn't close because the porch carpet was torn & blocking the door jam. Entered the room & walked to the bathroom with the floors creaking then stepped in a huge depression where... More

I have stayed here many times. Good location, good price, very old but clean. Nice to have the kitchen. The Inn is owned and operated by a couple, Gary and Perry. Gary is a very nice sweet older gentleman and Perry is a grumpy, unhappy, sour old man. I used to check in early every time (if the room was... More

A delightful town, and a great mini vacation, 2 hours from LA. The cabins are nice, well equipped, comfy and cosy with full kitchenette, and extra sofa bed in the living room. I loved it, and so enjoyed the total quiet of the night. My only complaint was though most cabins are detached, mine (No.5) seemed independent, with separate porch... More

We stayed in Room#1. You couldn't beat the price. They didn't have a two-night minimum like most places to stay in Idyllwild. Usually I read all the reviews on properties before staying anywhere, but our friends had already booked a (super cute) cabin here. I'm not surprised to find it rated #1 on Trip Advisor. For getting the cheapest room... More

Great place to stay and very close to town and Humber Park. The rooms come with a wood stove, which is perfect on a chilly night. Bring a bottle of wine to enjoy in the gazebo while you enjoy the courtyard.
