The Schoolhouse Family are a #1 recommendation in our book! A clean campground, pleasant, friendly, accommodating owners, a place to wash dishes, spotless bathrooms, etc etc etc make this place an ABSOLUTE for anyone camping in this area. Schoolhouse also has private beach access to the Russian River. We asked Chris (the owner) about tubing and not only did he... More

If you're camping as a couple and want a romantic, secluded spot in a beautiful setting, site #30 is called the honeymoon site due to several marriage ceremonies held there, but it should be due to the awesome atmosphere. It is the last site at the end of the wooded canyon. One of our best campsites ever! (photo below) Chris... More

This campground is basically for tents...it's rustic, but that doesn't mean you can't maneuver your small rig in (we have an Aliner pop up) but there is little in the way of prepping sites - v few with elec. and it is 15 amp. It's v clean, you are in the woods, but I would recommend moving on if there... More

The bathrooms were so nice & clean, with handsoap provided, just don't forget your towel! And a shower option available, too. Each site is clean, there were NO bits of trash nor cigarette butts to detract from your experience. The river access was breath taking and peaceful. I got to go swimming my dog, and rest on the bank in... More

I camped at Schoolhouse canyon with my three kids in lot 7. Campground was very clean and well organized. Chris was a great host. Private beach is amazing. All in all, great camping trip and I definitely will return there with the kids.

We recently made a 6+ hour trip to camp here and visit the Russian River area for the first time from the Central Coast. The campground was easy to find and check-in was a cinch. We were assigned to site 7A which is mid way into the small campground in the family section. This site had an electrical outlet, which... More

We stayed here for 2 nights with 2 families (4 adults, 4 kids). We loved it! Chris (the ranger) was very friendly and helped me over the phone to choose a site that would be big enough for all of us to use (7C). We had enough space for both our cars, 2 big tents and had plenty of room... More

This is a very nice campground and the owners/operators are extremely friendly. There is a decent amount of space between the camps and the bathrooms are very clean. We stayed in a camp closer to the road and found that the highway noise was an issue. It's just hard to relax with cars, trucks and motorcycles driving by. There are... More

"Chris" is the camp host we dealt with, and he was efficient and responsive. Things to know: no late check-in; CASH only; the bathroom is sparkling and has wonderful liquid hand soap; quarters needed for showers (one per min, max. ten mins and the water was hot when I used it ); the river is across a dangerous highway so... Stayed here few weeks back and campgrounds are big, with good spacing between them all dotted in ancient redwoods. Showers are super nice. The couple that run this place are so laid back and super helpful with tips and recommendations regarding the local area. Right by the lake as well and the owner has created a wicked little walkway down... More
