Located just two blocks from town on three acres of redwood groves and gardens, The Highlands, an idyllic adult property, has been around since the early 1920s when it was known as Highland Park Lodge. The Highlands has always attracted a loyal following of visitors looking for a quiet, relaxing place that is friendly and fun. The accommodations have recently received a fresh update while keeping the same cozy cabin vibe. The biggest addition is our new glamping area. With a nod to the past, we’re bringing back seasonal platform tent camping. We know you’ll love partaking in this long-standing Russian River tradition. So keep your pants on…its going to be a fun new adventure! (No really, keep your pants on; we are no longer clothing optional.) We are, however, very excited to see your new bathing suits. We can't wait to welcome you to The Highlands!

I fly from the east coast every year to experience the beautiful Russian river area and stay at this precious place. Everything is perfect here. The owners Lynette and Ken have painstakingly updated this property so everything is easy and pleasant. The atmosphere is laid back so you can unplug by the pool without loud music or disruptive noise. The pool and hot tub areas are clothing optional. Breakfast includes the famous highlands muffins and fruit breads. You are surrounded by everything Sonoma has to offer. This is the last beautiful resort of its kind. People come from the world over to be here. Dont miss out.

Have stayed here dozens of times, and keep coming back. Love the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The owners are helpful but not intrusive. Great location away from the sometimes kitsch of downtown, but you can still walk there.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Highlands Resort for the past 20+ years. It's always a treat to return for a relaxing time away from the city. Lynette and Ken are great hosts and they work to ensure their guests have an enjoyable stay. There's a baby grand piano in the main house that is begging for someone to play. It's a nice walk down the hill to town. Lynette is a treasure trove of travel/visitor information, including wineries, local events, restaurants, and great suggestions for day tripping while visiting the Russian River. Don't miss a hike through Armstrong Woods Redwood Park. It's close and so enjoyable.

A wonderful place to stop and enjoy the redwoods. Get a massage, hang by the pool and enjoy nature. Under the very gracious management of Lynette and Ken. You will be afforded a luxurious and rustic time in the redwoods. Great place to go visit lots to see and you are met with a wonderful breakfast with homemade muffins every day!! If you are traveling in Sanoma a great place to hang your hat for a few days!!

Stayed in Cabin 10 for three nights and wouldn't change a single thing. Lynette was a brilliant hostess--spent lots of time helping us with suggestions, marking maps and generally checking in to ensure we were having a wonderful time. Cabins make you wish you had local friends to invite over to entertain (cute decks, BBQ available on site, kitchenettes with mini fridges). Breakfast/public space times are very civilized for a relaxing break (BRK 8-11:30a, clothing-optional hot tub was something like 8a-11p). And you're a ten minute walk from all of the restaurants and shops of "downtown" Guerneville. Beautiful grounds as well.

We had the opportunity to stay at the Highlands a couple weeks back during the rodeo / jazz weekend. This is a cute and quaint place and has absolutely wonderful charm. The private and separate cabins are wonderful to experience in the woods and they now have space to camp if you would like that experience with some nice amenities. We stayed over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday and had a chance to enjoy the pool, spa, grounds, lodge experience and met a number of nice folks and couples. Both Ken and Lynette are wonderful. Ken is very hard working and constantly around to help or answer any questions. On Saturday we participated with movie night in the lodge after dinner and drinks and it was a lot of fun. Overall we really enjoy the Highlands and have been a couple times

Ken and Lynette have put their heart and soul into making this resort a comfortable, relaxing and welcoming place. And their guests appreciate it and keep coming back! For example, they provide homemade muffins every morning, have stunning flower gardens in the middle of tall redwood trees, and offer comfortable and cozy cabins. The resort includes a pool and hot tub. I have been coming here for over 20 years.

I love this place, relaxing and quiet beauty in the redwoods. Lynette and Ken are perfect hosts with deep knowledge of the area and interesting destinations. Homemade granola, fresh muffins or breads in the morning with fruit and coffee. It can't be beat! Pick any cabin or accomodation, you will love it. My Mom and I just stayed in Cabin #10 all the way at the end of the path, so quiet and comfortable. Can't wait to go back!

This is our 3 stay at the Highland Resort and it just keeps getting better and better. We came up for an annual Wine Barrel Tasting in the extended wine country and were lucky enough to adventure out with the delightful owner of the inn, Lynette. While the wine tasting was fun ( and great to see all of the new wineries we hadn't visited on previous trips) we were so happy to get back to our room. We were in the newly renovated Rm 6, where the fireplace roared, warming us instantly. The king size bed was super comfy and the sheets (bamboo!) oh so soft. It didn't matter that it was a wet weekend. Just more cozy! And perfect for having romantic time to ourselves. Again, thanks to Ken and Lynette for a great weekend getaway.

When we visit Guerneville, this is the place we most often stay. The cabins offer the just the right amount of amenities, while still feeling rustic. The hotel is surrounded by redwoods, but it is located just a few minute walk to downtown Guerneville. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. They offer a nice breakfast, with homemade muffins. We usually stay over the Thanksgiving weekend when the big treat is a variety of homemade pies! One of the big advantages of the Highlands is that they accept pets in some of the cabins. They even have a special pet basket with items to help make your pets visit nicer. The resort caters to LGTB guests, but they are very "straight friendly". On at least one occasion we brought straight friends with us and they had a
