For my vacation I decided to go to the Russian River. A colleague of mine recommended for me to stay at the Highlands Resort in Guerneville because of its peace and quiet. Of course, I did not know what to expect as this was my first trip to the area. As I drove up the hill and turned left to... More

This was our 5th or 6th trip to Guerneville and as we live in the U.K this says it all. This town is set within the most stunning redwoods with hills, forest, wine growing, the Pacific and of course the Russian River all within easy reach. Don't expect unbound luxury, internet access in all areas and T.V's in all rooms,... More

Ken and Lynette have run the resort solidly for years, keeping us and many others coming back time and again. A lovely property on a hill above Guerneville, with pleasant gardens and redwood trees makes for a great gay and straight-friendly retreat. Only concern is that with everyone automatically connecting with their multiple mobile Wi-Fi devices now, the Highland's Wi-Fi... More

Thanks for the lovely review! We just wanted to update everyone about the problems we were having with WiFi during your stay. Turned out that the router/modem had gone rogue and was bumping everyone off our connection (including us!). We've since replaced it and everything is running very smoothly. So far no one has had a problem getting connected or... More

This resort is cozy, comfortable, warm, and totally inviting! The bungalow cabins are simple and not overly decorated with just enough panache to keep them interesting without being stale or sterile. Hint, get a cabin with an oversized tub- what an amazing way to relax after a long day of shopping, wine tasting, hiking in the red woods, driving up... More

It's hard to put into words how welcoming and calm Highlands is. We have visited two times and cannot fault it. The grounds are quiet, relaxing and so well kept. The pool is so relaxing and our room was perfect for a few days of quiet in the Redwood forest. The breakfast is freshly baked and you can enjoy it... More

Great accommodations, central location, clothing optional pool, and friendly hosts make this place a winner. Our cabin seemed to have been recently updated and the bed was fabulously comfortable. Sorta like summer camp in that it's in the woods and there's no TV in the cabins - so be prepared when the pool and lounge close in the evening. We... More

Glamping at its uber best. It feels like you are camping in someone's backyard, and it literally is. Cabins in the front and expansive lawn/yard areas in the back. The outdoor shower by the pool is one of my favorites elements of the place. Staring at the stars was my pastime. Did not have the feeling of anticipation, if you... More

Cabins are comfortable but very basic. Thin walls, no TV or room phones, but still gives a nice feeling of being in an outdoors and good views of the redwoods. Close to town which is also a convenient location. There is a large pool area which allows nude sunbathing and a hot tub area also allowing nudity. Rooms include a... More

My partner and I have stayed here many times over the last several years and have always enjoyed the location, the delightful owners and the great location. The pool is one of my favorites, anywhere. We have also had great Guerneville stays at other local resorts, but our advice is to check here first if you are a gay couple... More

My partner and I stayed here over three days. The place is amazing. Friendly owners, comfortable beds, amazing hottub in the woods.... This place is like heaven. Wineries are literally about 4 minutes away. I recommend the Westside Drive Wineries....
