A friend and I decided to schedule an overnight to celebrate my getting over the flu. A two-room suite seemed a good choice from the internet descriptions, and the Poolside Suite was available when we called, and the price seemed reasonable, so we booked it. Parking was easy. The Poolside Suite was actually attached to the main building, which also... More

We spent one night at the Highlands Resort on our way further north. Ken and Lynette are lovely hosts with wonderful individual cabins as well as rooms at their resort. We were lucky enough to snag one of their cabins which are each unique and decorated with great style. Ours had a comfy queen bed ( yep, a better nights... More

Thanks so much for taking the time to post such a thoughtful review! We are very glad you enjoyed your stay at Highlands Resort. Your puppy was a delight and Olive was happy to share her toys. We hope you all come back soon - Lynette & Ken More

Though billed as a straight-friendly gay and lesbian resort, during our one-week stay the resort seemed more like a generic woodland resort, with couples and singles of all preferences intermingling. Other than that, the resort is exactly as advertised on their website. Breakfast is just granola and one quick bread offering. Our cabin was comfortable and kept immaculately clean by... More

Had a great stay at this property. I enjoyed the very relaxed atmosphere and relaxed attitude of the staff. The room was a very generous size with all expected amenities. It was true, I didn't need a television in my room which forced me to relax. Nicely, internet speed was fast. I like the layout of the property and the... More

For my vacation I decided to go to the Russian River. A colleague of mine recommended for me to stay at the Highlands Resort in Guerneville because of its peace and quiet. Of course, I did not know what to expect as this was my first trip to the area. As I drove up the hill and turned left to... More

This was our 5th or 6th trip to Guerneville and as we live in the U.K this says it all. This town is set within the most stunning redwoods with hills, forest, wine growing, the Pacific and of course the Russian River all within easy reach. Don't expect unbound luxury, internet access in all areas and T.V's in all rooms,... More

Ken and Lynette have run the resort solidly for years, keeping us and many others coming back time and again. A lovely property on a hill above Guerneville, with pleasant gardens and redwood trees makes for a great gay and straight-friendly retreat. Only concern is that with everyone automatically connecting with their multiple mobile Wi-Fi devices now, the Highland's Wi-Fi... More

Thanks for the lovely review! We just wanted to update everyone about the problems we were having with WiFi during your stay. Turned out that the router/modem had gone rogue and was bumping everyone off our connection (including us!). We've since replaced it and everything is running very smoothly. So far no one has had a problem getting connected or... More

This resort is cozy, comfortable, warm, and totally inviting! The bungalow cabins are simple and not overly decorated with just enough panache to keep them interesting without being stale or sterile. Hint, get a cabin with an oversized tub- what an amazing way to relax after a long day of shopping, wine tasting, hiking in the red woods, driving up... More

It's hard to put into words how welcoming and calm Highlands is. We have visited two times and cannot fault it. The grounds are quiet, relaxing and so well kept. The pool is so relaxing and our room was perfect for a few days of quiet in the Redwood forest. The breakfast is freshly baked and you can enjoy it... More

Great accommodations, central location, clothing optional pool, and friendly hosts make this place a winner. Our cabin seemed to have been recently updated and the bed was fabulously comfortable. Sorta like summer camp in that it's in the woods and there's no TV in the cabins - so be prepared when the pool and lounge close in the evening. We... More
