I had our anniversary dinner and wanted to go back again this year, but now it's under renovation. I've seen some people talking about what's going to be there, and it sounds little discouraging. I loved the FINE restaurant, that is "not allowing children under 12 to be there", as much as the lovely plates. Because many great restaurants allow... More

We arrived in the early evening to a very beautiful spot. We walked into a well decorated lobby that had a gorgeous unlit fireplace when it was in the low 50's, damp and cool. A burning fire would have been a great welcome. The receptionist was sitting, looking bored at her computer. She did not seem at all interested in... More

We stayed two nights in Room #10, a spa suite. The room was really nice. Fireplace by bed, two person shower, and a two person jacuzzi on the patio. The Inn is beautiful, grounds are well cared for. The redwoods on the property and all the trees are beautiful. I can imagine it would be lovely in the summer when... More

A wonderful dinner here ended with the sad news that the restaurant is being changed to casual dining. The fabulous chef will be here no more. What a loss! The complete lack of any interior design in the restaurant makes it more suited to casual as it certainly did not provide the right atmosphere for fine dining.

I understand your feelings and I now that change is often difficult, but after a 16 years run as a fine dining restaurant and many accolades, including a Michelin start in 2011 and 2012 this wonderful chapter of the restaurant at Applewood is closing. In early spring it will reopen with a complete new ambiance and theme. The restaurant will... More

Romantic weekend to celebrate a wedding anniversary with high expectations given the price. Arrived around 7ish on Friday 13Nov, to be greeted rather coldly by the lady at the front office. Had booked a massage for my wife the following morning at 10am but they plugged a couple in instead. They Tried to book for later in the day, but... More

This is a very nice Inn. Would definitely stay here again. Room. We had a "cozy room". Every room is different, as best I can tell. Our room had two entrances - one from an inside corridor, second from the small patio. "Cozy" was a good description, the room is cozy - not tight, but clearly not a large room.... More

Enjoyed a very pleasant autumn weekend at Applewood Inn in early November, 2015. Very comfortable accommodations with bountiful amenities in the room. The gardens and grounds are beautiful. The restaurant service and cuisine are sublime. Very close to Armstrong Woods Redwood Reserve and also Jenner and the Pacific Ocean. A relaxing, pleasant romantic weekend. Only wish they had a nice... More

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we loved it! So romantic! We stayed in the Chianti room which was lovely. The resort was quiet and very relaxing. Each morning the chefs prepared a two course meal that changed daily and was always delicious, complete with mimosas! I highly recommend the personal winery tour which took us... More

PROS: Best massage I ever had, fantastic dinner with great service, room was lovely and bed and bedding great. The waiter forgot to bring our wine, but comped our dessert which was very nice. Breakfast was great too. In the room couldn't get the coffee maker to work, and had some ants come to visit. We had an open juice... More

We recently stayed for the fourth time at the beautiful Applewood Inn and will come back again and again! The rooms are beautiful, the open courtyard with a big water fountain and colorful plantings is very calming surrounded by four buildings painted in warm Tuscan colors. Carlos, the owner, and his staff are so welcoming and do anything to make... More
