My wife and I stayed at the Groveland Hotel for our 26th anniversary. We chose the hotel because it's close to Yosemite, about a half hour to the northern gate, and because it's pet friendly. Very friendly and helpful staff, very nice room, we stayed in "Just Juanita" and it was perfect for two people and one dog, very comfortable... more

Thanks for your kind words. It sounds like you had a great time in Groveland! The Iron Door Saloon is a fun place to visit and enjoy local color. You can always take a shot at adding your dollar bill to the collection on the ceiling. So sorry we did not have an extra room for you to stay a...

Stayed for one night on our way to Yosemite. The staff were helpful and friendly but the room left a lot to be desired. We paid over $160 for the room, the worst and the most expensive on our trip across California. We were told the flat screen TV wasn't working. We then found that we were not able to... more

The Groveland Hotel's breakfast is correctly titled "The Full Innkeeper's Breakfast" consisting of eggs cooked to order with choice of bacon, ham or sausage and includes a buffet of cereals, juices, teas, coffee, a selection of sweet rolls or muffins, jams and fruit trays. Although it far surpasses a continental breakfast, it is not a gourmet breakfast. The chef prepares...

Charming hotel with warm, rustic charm and very good amenities. The décor in the rooms evokes the historical nature of the building and creates a comfortable and intimate experience. Very dog-friendly! The included breakfast was very nice. The dinner in the restaurant is fantastic with interesting menu choices and very creative preparations drawing on local, fresh ingredients (the chef mentioned... more

We enjoy visits from all our guests, and try to make each one feel comfortable. For 4-footed pals, we supply a special quilt, dog bowls and a snack as a welcome. Our chef, Greg Lutes, is truly creative and partners with several local farmers to provide the freshest and best ingredients for the interesting dishes mentioned. Both Chef Lutes and...

In the past, we have experienced the mouth-watering food at the Groveland Hotel, near Yosemite National Park, and having toured the rooms, have wanted to stay to experience the total atmosphere of it all. We finally decided to enjoy the "Beach Boys" review, one of the summer concerts at the Hotel, and spend the night afterwards. From the beginning of... more

I've been staying at this hotel for years. I never take the time to make reservations inside the Yosemite gates. Chances are, you'll never get a reservation and it will cost you an arm and a leg. This Victorian hotel is wonderful. The service is great, the rooms are clean, and the food is wonderful. We wake up early, eat... more

We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Jim showed us to our room and gave us information on the best sights and things to do in Yosemite. Our room in this historic hotel was small, but comfortable and charming, and the restaurant was excellent. Forget about eating at the park - the Groveland's chef was wonderful! The owner, Peggy,... more

Jim is the absolute greatest at making people feel welcome! He has so much knowledge about the area and is always ready share the best sights and scenes. Ask him about his days as a musician in Hawaii... We agree, Chef Greg Lutes is incredibly talented and his food is definitely hard to beat. Sounds like you had a wonderful...

The Hotel is a quaint historical building about 45 mins from Yosemite. Our room was tastfully decorated in an old fashioned way giving a warm, welcoming feel. The LCD screen hanging on the wall did look out of place but what can you do? THey don't make those with wooden trim! Our room also faced the main road and there... more

Thank you for your 4 1/2 - 5 star rating! We know that Chef Greg Lutes is an unexpected find in such a small town. His ability to craft fine cuisine is gifted. We hope you will join us again for a relaxing getaway and great food and wine pairings.

The Groveland Hotel is a period hotel that has some charm, but is showing its age. The rooms are cramped and cluttered with pillows and teddy bears. The hallways are littered with old furniture and storage containers. The rooms are significantly more expensive than others that are nicer down the street (check out the Groveland Inn). The bar is tiny... more

The good news is that the hallways are no longer littered with old furniture and storage containers. The necessary work of repainting and re-carpeting have been completed. I'm sorry that you caught us not long before we began the work of renewal. The Pillows and Teddy Bears remain in the rooms, more of a nod to the Victorian period. Our...

I stayed here for one evening (Lyle's room) in the beginning of March. I did lots of research prior- and weighted my selection heavily on their website- BIG mistake! While I started to see some "lukewarm at best" reviews recently- but took them with a grain of salt...again BIG mistake! They were right on the money. This hotel delivers nothing... more

Please accept our apologies for what sounds like a disappointing stay. You found us before we had repainted and replaced carpeting in the hallways. The extra furniture that added to your discomfort is gone and the whole area is entirely refreshed. During the winter most of our local hotels open their restaurants for weekend dining only, and the Groveland Hotel...

From the moment we entered we were part of the family. Felt comfortable and safe. You are away from most tourists in the winter and this affords you the chance to just relax.
