We went to Groveland for my 50th Birthday. This historic inn was great. The rooms are very typical of Gold Rush period, they are a little small but have immaculate bathrooms attached. If size of your room is important they have a least 2 parlor style rooms that you should request. There is also a wonderful porch that is great... more

My wife and I spent a miserable night (which was supposed to be a four-day weekend) at this awful hotel. The room was unbearably small and appeared not to have been dusted in many months. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The breakfast was almost inedible--stale bread and fruit including pineapple slices that were completely brown and probably been there for... more

We stumbled upon Groveland and The Groveland Hotel on our way to Yosemite. As others have written, Groveland is an interesting old gold rush town just outside of Yosemite. The hotel is a historic site that played a significant role in the town's history. We had a short, but very enjoyable, stay here. The rooms are small but very well... more

This is an attractive historic property that has been lovingly restored without being overly modernized. The rooms are all unique and are decorated with period furniture. The restaurant is extremely good (five stars for the light dinner that I had). My room was a little on the small side (even allowing for it being an inn) and the ten or... more

It's an OK old hotel in a cute old town, but the information on the website is deliberately misleading. The hotel is at least an hour from Yosemite Valley. Yes, there is a beach, lake, tennis, etc. at Pine Mountain Lake, but it's a gated community. The only amenities non residents can use are the restaurant (very good) and the... more

We chose the Groveland Hotel because it was on the way to Yosimite from San Francisco. It is a renovated 1850's hotel/saloon which one would imagine the typical style of the gold rush era. The rooms are very charming and comfortable with private bath (important!), but the hidden gem to this hotel is it's restaurant, wine cellar, and chef. The... more

2 hours drive back and forth - wasting time in commuting and not enough time to enjoy the valley. It's better to stay at the hotel in the Valley. No elevators at this hotel. If you are going to stay on the second floor, make sure you are able to carry your luggage up the stairs. more

Dear BoChu It's always interesting to hear from our guests. You're absolutely correct! Groveland is a quaint California Goldrush town, with tremendous offerings for lodging, restaurants, a great museum, chronicling the community's colorful history, a most welcoming park with picnic tables, kids climbing gear to wear off some excess energy and California's Oldest, Continuously Operating Saloon. We're 23 miles/a half...

I had no idea what to expect when we rolled up into Groveland... my boyfriend had booked this hotel as a stop over before we headed into Yosemite the next morning - the rooms are adorable. It was like staying at granny's house... Lots of teddy bears everywhere and a home made cookie on the pillow. The breakfast the next... more

My husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary with the Groveland Hotel & Staff. We elected to dine both evenings and one breakfast and the service and food was of the greatest quality I have had in many years. The staff was so attentive and the Chef Greg came to greet us and ensure our meal was all we... more

Well, it looks pretty, friendly staff, rooms were nice and cool. Only problem, not much in the area in the way of hotels. Breakfast was very basic, however for the money we were left wanting more...alot more. As its an old building(by US standards anyway!) you can hear all the hussle and bussle from the resturuant down stari and the... more

Hi, CameraChap....thanks so much for all the really nice things you said about The Groveland Hotel at Yosemite National Park! You're right...Our buildings are both historic treasures - our 1849 adobe building is a copy of the Larkin House in Monterey - known as a Monterey Colonial architectural style. It's part of the California Goldrush. Our NEW building was constructed...
