Note, the hotel does not show you pictures of their rooms, wounder why? because they are rundown, and outdated. I had a resvervation in their annex building, which is an old delapidated victorian sitting in the parking lot. The front porch is dryrotted (I am suprised no one has fallen through) and all the paint is peeling. There is what... more

We only had one night here but were very impressed and pleased with our choice. We had the Presidential Suite which comfortably accommodated our family of four. The service was charming if a little hit and miss, which only seemed to add to the charm. The food in the restaurant was OK but a little uninspiring. The bar was fun... more

This is a really nice hotel, with genuine history and a great bar, in a lovely town. We stayed in the Mark Twain room which had its own large balcony. The food in the restaurant was good but the real gem is the bar with it's eccentric locals and lively atmosphere. We were lucky enough to see Kelly Fleming playing... more

Stayed for 2 nights & glad we did. We had the Lola Montez and the Lotta Crabtree rooms. Both were spacious and nicely furnished. The rooms were spotlessly clean. Its a beautiful building and is well cared for. The location is great - right in the centre of Grass Valley and a good base for the Gold Country. The cold... more

Wife and I stayed (one night) at the Holbrooke in June 2008. Very nice property in very unique old town. To walk the town required some up and downhill treking. Street (auto) traffic was very heavy while we were there. Parking was generally difficult around town although the Holbrooke has a convenient parking lot around back. Our room was small... more

When our fire alarm started beeping at 11:30 pm we thought a battery replacement might be in order. Not the management. They were unable to perform this function. When asked if they could remove the battery they said they could. OOP'S, no one could find a ladder to perform this simple function. We were then told they would move us... more

I enjoyed my stay at the Holbrooke - it was clean, well run and friendly. My room was a little dark, but the bar (including food) was good. Well worth a visit, especially for those on a budget who fancy a change from the usual boring motels. more

Great location in the heart of Grass Valley, what a beautiful old town that could be on a movie set! Loved the staff, very warm and personable. Loved the bar entertainment and food. Very safe and central location. Great rooms all different with special character inside and many historic tales and momentos. Highly recommend!! more

The rooms are kept VERY nice, the restaurant is Excelent and the ambiance of the hotel is clean, fresh and feels like your staying in a piece of history. The bar is a local hang out and we send all of our guest here, we live in the area and we have looked around at alot of places and this... more

My husband, son and I had Christmas dinner tonight at the Holbrook Hotel. It was awful. We should have left when we saw the cheap chairs and tables. (We had Christmas dinner 20 years ago when the furnishings were elegant.) We began with shrimp cocktail - they had run out of asparagus...the other appetizer offered...the shrimp were smashed and smothered... more
