My husband and I spent a week at Gold Lake Lodge, staying in a one room cabin with bath. We had a wonderful stay and can't wait to return. This is a terrific, old-style lodge in the mountains - perfect for getting away from it all, esspecially if you want to hike. The lodge is made up of a dining... More

Have you ever thought "I could come back to this place every year"? Well, this is the place for our family. Every summer we show up and are greeted by John and his staff like we are part of their family too. Every year we all vote on a location for a long summer weekend and it is always unanimous:... More

Great historic lodge in the woods with beautiful day hikes to pristine alpine lakes right from your door!!! We swam in the lakes-- wow!!!! what an experience!!!! Our 5 year old became a real little hiker on this trip and made friends with other children visiting the lodge which made the experience extra special!! Food, which is included, was good... More

We were scouting out a future Hiking Club outing in this area and asked about local trails at the Gold Lakes Lodge. The very helpful manager gave us a good trail map and excellent recommendations. We ended up eating all our meals there even though we were staying in a nearby campground that night. Next time I will stay at... More

My husband and I arrived here and after a miscommunication on our part, realized we had booked the wrong lodge!! We had intended to stay at Graeagle Lodge, (where we had stayed before years ago), but somehow booked this place instead. Looking around, it took us a few moments to realize why nothing looked familiar!! Anyway.... we were expecting a... More

If you like cozy, comfortable, rustic accommodations in an ideal location for hiking and exploring, I highly recommend staying here. My 20-month-old toddler and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend and had a delightful time. The cabin was big enough for our needs with comfortable beds, very clean, and with shampoo, soap, towels, etc. provided. The cabins are actually... More

We just got back from an amazing vacation in the Northern Sierras. If you are looking for a wonderful place to escape to the mountains with relatively easy access, yet very few people, go to the Lakes Basin Recreation Area and stay at Gold Lake Lodge. It's located about 50 miles northwest of Truckee. Gold Lake Lodge is the trailhead... More
