My husband and i were recently driving through Santa Barbara, California and were desperate for a good night's sleep. We came upon Modoc Inn and decided to check it out. Though it is off the beaten path (5 minutes drive to Santa Barbara downtown and 5 minutes from UCSB) it was a a very neat experience. The motel though small, the rooms were nicely decorated and had more of a "guest bedroom" feel with a country flair. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean and put together well. The room also was equiped with a full kitchen, lofts and skylights. It was a great little surprise, and rooms are inexpensive and worth it. They have a friendly atmosphere and we will return. Call them for your next stay-and the property is FOR SALE by the way! If we had the funds, we'd put in an offer and turn this little piece of proerty into a B&B!
