My husband and I have been treated very poorly by the Forest House in 2009 after several issues were handled inappropriately regarding their staff during and after our wedding. I get shaky and sick to my stomach when I think about the things that went on during our weekend stay. I would never recommend this venue to anyone. They have... more

The Forest House Lodge and it's remote ceremony location are beautiful. However, the management and ownership of this establishment need serious training in customer service, especially for the amount of money their charge brides and grooms to host their events. I attended a wedding there in February. I personally witnessed the staff complaining to the matron-of-honor (who speak for the... more

Where do I begin? I originally went to the Forest House with my mother, future Mother-In-Law, and sister as my fiance was deployed in the Navy. After sitting down with Patrick to discuss our date, what we were looking for, and what he could offer us, we were told that we were put on the books for our June 2009... more

My son and fiance booked the Forest House for wedding in 2009. They just found out it the owners double booked the site--by their own admission it was the fourth time this happened. The male owner used obscenities over the phone when questioned over the mix-up. Female owner hung up three times. Plans have been in the works, but the... more

My new husband and I married at The Forest House Lodge (for some reason it's been called The Forest House Hotel on this website) in August, 2007. It was my husband's idea, as he had attended a wedding of similar size and temperment (175 people, 125 of whom love perhaps more than a splash of champagne and a good dance... more

I have read these other reviews and although they are allowed their own opinions, I must say I had the opposite experience. I attended a small (30 person) wedding here in March 2006 and had a great time. Patrick and Monica do an amazing job with their hotel and service. They gave as much as help to this small wedding... more

We contacted this venue in the hopes of booking our wedding. Patrick the owner was very nice and convinced me he was an honest stand up guy. He invited us to stay complementary where we were treated first class. The house is fairly similar to the pictures on the internet and the ceremony site is beautiful. After discussing a date... more

This person could not understand that she was getting charged for $2000.00 in guest rooms. She would then have her guests come in and pay for their room, at a price she sets, usually equivalent to approx. $2000.00. We then subtract from her balance, the total amount that SHE charges her guests. Typically $2000 or MORE! It is unfortunate that...

If you are considering renting this place, be sure to get an estimate in writing before you ask for a contract. Inquire about minimum prices and ask explicitly how much each item will cost. They will nickel and dime you all the way through. There are prettier places to rent in the Gold Country. Pass this one by!!!! more

This comment does not make any sense to me at all. I could sit and explain everything about the Forest House but it is for you to call us and take a visit and see for yourself. I know who this lady is who made this comment and she was totally irritated about something else. There was an episode which...

After dealing with the management (for a wedding), I seriously have to warn you about these guys. They are not trust worthy or keep to their word. If you do deal with them, get everything in writing!! I also advise you to visit the lodge in person, as the website is great, the place is pretty run down and musty.... more

Would you have wedding and not view the venue prior? I never would. There are people that want to book “sight unseen” and we tell them to come and view our facility before they send us their $500 deposit. I understand that not every venue is for everyone. We actually tell our guests,” if your toes don’t tingle when you...
