My cousin and I are from the LA area and had never visited Yosemite before. We spent one night over in El Portal at the Yosemite View Lodge and two nights at the Narrow Gauge Inn. The Narrow Gauge Inn was cute, clean, and comfortable. It's not a convenient location if you plan to repeatedly visit Yosemite Village because the... more

This is a lovely cosy inn ideally situated around 30 miles from Yosemite Valley. All the main sights are within easy driving distance. Rooms are really comfortable, many having balconies overlooking the forest. Staff are really friendly and really helpful - there is no internet access at the hotel (other than Wi-Fi you have to pay for if you've your... more

A nice Inn at the south entrance of Yosemite. We arrived a bit early but could check-in anyway. Nice room and good breakfast. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on the night we stayed, which was a shame as it really looked very nice (it's where guests have breakfast too). Overall we'd recommend this Inn, especially if you want to have... more

This is the third year in a row I've stayed at this Inn to attend an annual conference held at the Tenaya Lodge. This was the first year I brought with me my husband, and we had our six month old baby with us, too. As expected, the staff were friendly and helpful, the views are nice, the room well-appointed,... more

Stayed 3 nights in which we enjoyed the peace & quiet of the area from our balcony. The room including shower room were fine & functional. We were only able to dine in once, as the dining room is closed Monday & Tuesdays, so we went to the Tenaya Lodge some 2 miles away, which was OK (would not wish... more

We stayed for two nights to see Yosemite. The drive in is around 40 minutes and if I was staying longer I would have mixed this with a stay in the park itself. Our room was tastefully furnished and we experienced good service. The bar is splendid and the food good - if a little on the high price side.... more

We stayed at this little inn over the past weekend and found it to be low-key but well-kept. We ate at the attached restaurant and had a terrific dinner with great service. The view from our balcony was relaxing. The room itself was very clean but hot during the day. The a/c unit had to work overtime to keep up... more

The rooms are small and at night the temperature stays high. But if you can handle this: you will have a nice view from you balcony and will be no more than a few steps away from a very good restaurant and Yosemite valley is not more then 40 minutes away. It is value for money. more

The Narrow Gauge is very cute and quaint but don't bother trying to plan a event there. The owners are wonderful but the catering manager is impossible to communicate with. She doesn't return emails or phone calls and appears to not want your business. We became so frustrated we stopped trying and went someone else. Too bad, its a nice... more

I'm sorry you feel that you did not receive proper service and I am addressing your specific issue with our Events Planner. Over the last 8 years, we have had dozens of rehearsal dinners, weddings and receptions take place at the Narrow Gauge Inn. We are thrilled and honored when a couple chooses our Inn for the day of their...
