A wonderfully historic B&B, and our friendly host had just the right level of attentiveness. Spotless inside, with lots of interesting antiques and original decor. Breakfast was terrific, not over-the-top but definitely enough to get your day started nicely. Would definitely return.

We loved this place! From entering at the front door we were sold on the place. The house is huge and has quite a few rooms. And its style is all Victorian. We were in the smallest room in the place and had to go down the hall to our bathroom, but even that was pretty amazing. The whole house... More

This is a beautiful B&B with all the expected amenities, but accepted our Border Collie in one of the two pet-friendly rooms. What a surprise since we decided to go on a New Years' outing too late to board our pet! Not only was she accepted, but had the run of the OUTSIDE yard with supervision of course. Not welcome... A beautiful property, well appointed with authentic furnishings.Comfortable and inviting. Amazing to stay in such a piece of history. Spent hours just taking in all the details of this property. Loved the fact that a 3 hour window was set for breakfast, leaving plenty of time to grab what ever one wished. Everything was delicious...well prepared and you had a... More

Stayed one night here during our trip to Ferndale for the Humboldt County Fair (horse racing). What a neat place! Easy access, clean, super comfy room, and very friendly/helpful staff. The breakfast is served buffet style and there is a 3 hour window for it. So, if you don't wake up super early, and don't want to be crammed at... More

Drove by, called, and was able to stay that night in this beautiful Inn! The owner/innkeeper was very accommodating, friendly, and she provided us with a very nice breakfast. I would definitely recommend staying here. The Inn had several common rooms to hang out in, with a good supply of information about the area, lots of books, restful places to... More

Unfortunately I only got to spend one day there but it pretty much topped my vacation. The hotel is well done, clean, well located and just about perfect. The owner was just like a thin smoke she wisped in and left wine..then she was gone. wisped in again left delicious snacks..gone. She delighted us with a full breakfast served beautifully... More

Stayed a couple of nights in the Wisteria room for the Avenue of the Giants marathon. It was 25 mins away from the starting line but was worth the drive. We booked the smaller room with the bath down the hall but it was sufficient for two. We spent most of the day out discovering the outdoors anyways. This place... More

My sister and I had a delightful stay at the Shaw House in Oct, 2013. This beautifully cared for early Victorian home was the first house in the valley built in 1854. The comfortable interior decor is the light and colorful early Victorian; much of the furniture is of the period, some of the ceiling paint original. The atmosphere is... More

I write this review for those who travel with well behaved, loved pets. My husband and I recently took a trip up the California coast, traveled inland and then out a bit to end at the Shaw House B&B in Ferndale. All accommodations were in pet friendly cabins, cottages and B&B's. I didn't want to write this but in retrospect... More

We have such an old and beautiful house here, and I love sharing it with so many wonderful guests. It wasn't designed as an accommodation for pets, but we found that our 3 rooms with private outdoor entrances would work perfectly for pet companions too. We welcome German & Australian Sheperds, Pit Bulls, Pomeranians and lovely little poodles like yours.... More
