Our stay at the Fern River Resort lasted six days. It's already an adventure to get to Felton because of the curvy roads through the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains and its forests. But the resort is easy to find. The grounds of the actual resort were well kept and very clean in a nice surrounding. The young lady at the... More

The location and atmosphere around the grounds are beautiful and serene. A really nice setting for a peaceful get away. The bathroom was a little on the poor side, leaky, very small shower and worn out towels. This isn't a hotel, more like a cabin, so you need to bring your own coffee, shampoo, blow dryer, etc... They do not... More

We wanted a location near Big Basin Redwoods state park, and so we picked Fern River resort. What I liked best was the location, in a canyon with lots of trees and redwoods, shady and lovely. The cabin we had was fine for the three nights. It was fairly large with a queen sized bed, coffee maker, microwave, refrig. Everything... More

In response to your response to my far below satisfactory review. Your employee that gave us the late checkout was perfectly cognitive and stable and VERY polite. I felt extremely bad after telling the head manager that she was the one who ordered us the late checkout because The head manager started screaming at her right in front of us.... More

The overall atmosphere was quaint and appealing. The cleanliness was overall acceptable which is my number one priority, however the bathroom has obviously had water damage and smelled pretty bad. The shower head is only about five feet tall and the actual shower is very small. There was a nail or tack sticking up on the floor right in front... More

Darcy, I apologize for the tip of a nail on the bathroom floor. Speaking with staff and the owner it was never mentioned to any of my staff. That cabin was built in the 1800's and our property has flooded several times since. Because of various legislation it is very difficult to update historical property. Recently that cabin had its... Our stay was for one night and we had a nice time for the one night until the next day when we had to check out and deal with management. She was SO rude and tried to overcharge us for having our family that lives locally over for lunch. If you're okay with get chewed out by a rude woman... More

I apologize you felt our office staff was rude. We do have a employee that has a cognitive disorder employed with us and she is fastidious about our rules. It does clearly state in the cabins that extra guests require office personal being informed and if hey are onsite more than 3 hours a resort fee is accessed. We have... More

I was married at Fern River in August 2014. We rented 7 cabins for family and friends, and it was such a WONDERFUL experience! *Note: -- This is a long review -- I just wanted to return the favor, as it was so helpful for me to read detailed reviews when I was looking for a place* Dan and Nicole... My husband and I just stayed in Cabin #4 for the long President's Day weekend. We usually stay in #3, which is very private, since it is tucked into a corner with redwoods all around. But, this time we wanted a fireplace since it was February. Both are one bedroom units, but I think there are also some two bedroom... More

This little resort has a number of cabins on the river. I stayed in #8 after I was upgraded (originally booked #2). It was pretty nice, with a nice view of the river. It was clean and comfortable but plan on bringing everything - there were no extras (paper towels, etc). Also, everything - including most of the furniture is... More

Check in was not as warm as I'd have liked, but cottage was great. They had a guest that stayed longer that was in the cottage I had reserved, so was upgraded at no extra charge. Cottage was clean, charming and comfortable. Surroundings were great, would have loved to spent more time. May go back and stay again.
