I travel regularly to Eureka on business and stay a the Carter House. Few places, including Four Seasons or W Hotels can compare to the comfortable rooms, great food and warm person service provided by every employee. Traveling to Eureka from San Francisco is tiring but having the Carter House as a final destination, makes it worthwhile. more

Stayed at the Carter House Inn with friends on our way back from visiting Ft. Bragg and Mendocino. We were able to negotiate a very nice rate on two great rooms because it was a Sunday night and in the off season. The rooms were clean, comfortable and very well decorated. We we given a complimentary glass of wine and... more

On our recent return trip to the Carter House Inn, we were again greeted by Brittany and Anna, who make you feel like you are on the Red Carpet. It always feels like I'm visiting family when I check in and the service and surroundings are at their utmost highest. We had a drink before dinner in the cozy and... more

Inn itself was charming until you got to the rooms, they need to be refurbished. The help was very good with anything you want and the restaurant was great but I don't know if I'd stay there if there was another option. more

Great place to stay as we were traveling through Eureka on our way down the Northern California coast. Our room was at the back of one of the separate buildings, which was great as the front rooms can get a little noisy due to the relatively busy road out front. The neighborhood is marginal in the evenings, in a nothing... more

My children aren't actually teenagers, but at 12 and 9 they're closer to that than "young children", which was the other choice. This was our second stay here, the first in November 2005. What I love most about the Hotel Carter is the authenticity of the Victorian reproduction building and the attentiveness of the staff. Everything about the place is... more

Good morning I have stayed at your hotel several times now and was a guest this past week. It has to be said your facility is amazing. The rooms are exceptional, the staff is wonderful and I truly enjoy staying there. I always take a stroll over to the bay to watch the sailboats when I am there. Each stay... more

This was our third stay at Carter House Inn. Two of the three times we have stayed here, we were upgraded to a suite. But even on our first stay where we weren't upgraded, the room was so nice and comofortable. A full, delicious breakfast is served each morning and good wine (not the cheap stuff you usually get at... more

The Carter House inns are a pleasant, clean, attractive Victorian inn. BUT - Eureka is a frightening hellhole of vacant lots with razor wire, armies of homeless, ugly sprawl and an overall atmosphere that can only be described as frightening. We are city people and have no fear of urban, impoverished neighborhoods but you should prepare yourself for a truly... more

Pet fee was average ($50). Room was spacious - we stayed on the bottom floor of the Victorian cottage. We are currently doing work in the beautiful living room on the second floor of the home. There was coffee brewing in the ktichen on the third floor. Breakfast was fantastic (great pastries and great fluffy omelete). The heater was on... more
