Through the golden door to an island of calm and serenity. The attentive staff smooths any problems with seamless anticipation. Each and every staff person I encountered sincerely cared that I was doing well from the morning server who brought my breakfast to the personal fitness instructor who stayed longer with me to make sure I understood the program she... After 7 days at the golden door, you'll feel as though you've hit the reset button on your physical and mental health. It's a great place to either kick start your exercise routine or take your physical health to the next level. You can spend time maximizing your fitness and weight loss, or you can choose to spa and relax... More

Something magical & mystical happens as you go through the Golden Doors. Your spirit & physical well-being are nurtured and pampered. Your program is totally personalized with professional guidance. Spa, exercise, mind-body connections, amazing staff-guest ratio, mindful food options, lectures, demonstration cooking. The walks or hikes are suitable for each person, with gentle guidance. Encouraging to reach a little farther... More

A magical space. As a very active person in my early 40s, I had expectations of just eating healthy and relaxing and... probably getting bored. Was I wrong. This place is very special. The women that come are vibrant, funny and accomplished- yet very down to earth. The staff is simply amazing - I have rarely seen such a good... More

The Golden Door is fabulous. From the time you enter the golden door to your departure the stay is perfect. What a wonderful retreat where you work your body and mind and you are pampered as well. So many options for things to do from self defense to kick boxing to Tai Chi to learn to swim, and all the... More

Mind, Body, Spirit Rejuvenation. This is not just a spa, it is a retreat. At the Door, one focuses on the areas that too often are left for another day. One remembers to care for oneself, to eat well (and deliciously), stretch and exercise ones physical body, and mindfully focus on the inner self. The Golden Door is world class... More

I recently spent a week at the Golden Door and had the most amazing experience of any spa retreat I have ever been to. Forget We Care forget them all this is IT! The staff are incredibly friendly and the trainers have an energy that never leaves them whether they are teaching Tai chi or kickboxing. The great thing about... More

What a life-affirming experience-my second. Even during enjoyable Food and Wine week, I lost weight due to the numerous interesting fitness options. Many opportunities for inner work through T'ai ch, yoga and meditation. Staff couldn't be nicer, and kitchen prepares wonderful quality and quantity of food. Zen-like grounds add to the calming experience. Small number of guests create opportunities for... More

The Golden Door Spa was opened in 1958 and it's fair to say that its founder, Deborah Szekely, practically invented the modern spa. With a zen-like atmosphere that is rooted in Japanese culture -- and a well maintained property to match -- the first thing one wants to do on arrival is exhale. But, as other writers have noted, this... More
