Title says it all - you can't be closer to Moonlight beach unless you set you tent right on the beach. The motel is quite old but still in good shape. Some appliances in kitchenette should be displayed in museum - the stove had buttons temperature controls (i think it came from 70's or something) but it did its job.... more

Stayed two nights before Labor Day weekend. Pros: Friendly desk, 3rd floor balcony overlooking the ocean with a large 1br and kitchenette. Easy walk to beach, transportation and downtown. Cons: Charge for wireless internet, Continental Breakfast is a roll and cup o' joe but great alternatives a short walk away. Ambiance: family, early to bed quiet- better plan to party... more

We found this by accident and booked for 2 nights but were so happy we stayed for 6 nights. Rooms are really clean, well equipped for cooking breakfast, close to I-5 freeway but not too close. and the beach is just a short walk away. Would recommend this unreservedly to anyone more

I was going to book a room here for my husband and I for my birthday, till I was told we can't stay up as long as we want at night. If i'm going to pay over a $100.00 a night I don't need a mommy telling me when I have to go to bed. We stayed at the best... more

We thoughly enjoyed our three night stay at the Moonlight Beach Motel (MBM). Room (301) is very large, clean and well maintained. Great ocean breeze. Our stay at MBM was very peaceful and relaxing. The owner/operator of the Moonlight Beach Motel is a wonderful lady and very accommodating. MBM is very a short walk (Less than 3 minutes) to downtown... more

We have been staying at this hotel for years, and little by little it has improved to the point that after our stay this summer we are giving it our highest recommendation. They have added air conditioning and remodeled the bathrooms, and put in new tables and chairs on the balconies. The location near Moonlight Beach couldn't be better. Having... more

Wanted to get out of the desert for one of the last of the cheaper weekends before the real summer crowds started heading out. We read some of the reviews for this place and laughed at them ... That was, until we settled in and sat outside on our balcony: We checked in around 10pm, unloaded our stuff, checked out... more

I found this place "by accident" about 5 years ago when my son and I were out for a "bonding vacation" in California. We were tired and "had" to stay in La Jolla the night before and paid $$$$ for an average Best Western room. "Way" overpriced so the next day we took of "up the road" and found this... more
