Since I was very pleased with my stay at Cedar Lodge last year, I booked a room again. Dunsmuir is a quiet town located on the Sacramento River. Cedar Lodge has lots of tall oak and cedar trees on the property which were very welcome on the hot summer day. The property is managed by the on-site owners who take... More

The motel is a very quiet and clean place. No frills but perfect for a short stay while we were passing through. Much to our delight, they have an aviary with 20+ green cheek conures and a couple of cockatiels. We are bird lovers so had a wonderful time watching their antics. We would stay here again.

My kids and I stayed here a couple of nights this summer, and we recommend this motel for anyone that prefers a great value and avoids the over priced chain motels. Sylvia was so friendly and helpful... And she even found a fishing pole for my son to borrow. My little dog was welcome. The room was simple, clean, quiet,... More

What a pleasant surprise to find this old-style motel. My husband and teenage son and I were lucky to get a room on a summer Saturday night. The hostess, Sylvia, was very helpful in guiding us to great restaurants and local sites. The room, though close to the road, was clean and quiet, with plenty of towels. The aviary and... More

Picked this based on other reviews and overall rating as #2 in the area. The room is a clean one although dated, and I like the owner. However this is 2014 and 1.07 MB download and 0.25 MB upload does not qualify as actual WiFi -- rather it qualifies as false advertising, And in fact a second test showed 0.25... More

fine room, and I checked in solo. I picked up family (1 adult 2 preteens) at the train station at 04:30 am and thanks to the hostess was able to return to the room, let the boys sleep and just hunker down till a more reasonable time to leave on our great adventure. Started out with a hike to the... More

We stayed 2 nights at the wonderful motel with super clean rooms (I am very picky when it comes to cleanness in hotels), excellent service and warm treatment by the owners, a couple that are originally from England. Note for hikers, backpackers and thru hikers:We needed to be taken to a place where we planned to start hiking and to... More

We stayed in the "family" room with 2 queen beds plus 2 twins in living room. Good wifi, equipped kitchen (microwave no stove), 2 TVs, private patio w BBQ & table under cedar tree. Clean. Reasonable. Quiet.

My Wife and I had a 4 day getaway. So Happy we found this place to stay. Sylvia the owner is so sweet and helpful. The rooms are extremely clean, comfortable, inexpensive and peaceful sitting on the porch. I fly fish and will be spending all my visits to the Upper Sacramento River resting for my next day adventures here.

This hotel was everything I look for: quiet, clean, VERY comfortable bed, big fluffy towels, and an air conditioner that cooled the room quickly. Like the other reviewers, I've stayed at other places in Dunsmuir, and the Cedar Lodge is by far the nicest. Try it, you'll like it!
