Stopped at railroad Park, resort for an evening break between a trip from Oregon to Sacramento, California.a late arrival was no problem for the desk and fortunately the restaurant was open. Most of the rooms in the resort are reworked cabooses from old U.S. railroads. The dining area is a remade dining car attached to a Bar and Cafe made... More

We finished a 5 day roadtrip through the Redwoods and coastal N. California/S. Oregon at this wonderful resort. Our original plan was to camp at the Castle Craigs park just south of the resort. But a Google Map search showed a pool at this location, so I zoomed in. After some research, we thought it would be a perfect end... More

Staying in a caboose was really great. Everyone there was very friendly. The room was great, loved all of the wood inside. Had dinner in the dining car, it really felt like you were on a train having dinner. The waitress was very helpful in recommending some great food choices as well as drink choices.

I have been to this small resort several times with my family and each time it has been a positive experience. Disclaimer that I am a complete railroad buff so getting to sleep in a caboose is a dream come true. But, it did give me a chance to talk to my children about how important the railroads were in... We just spent 3 nights in Caboose 23 at Railroad Park Resort. Could not have been more pleasant, from the beautiful surroundings, to the friendly staff, to the great bar and restaurant cars. Drinks on the deck of the "bar car" were so much fun, and Sharon the bartender even brought our dog a dish of water! (It was hot!)... More

Why would anyone want to stay in Dunsmuir, much less somewhere between Dunsmuir and Shasta? Because you're right in the middle of several not-to-be-missed side trips. The Railroad Park Resort is a fun stay all on its own. The view of Castle Crags from the park is outstanding. If you haven't seen the Crags, don't miss them the next time... More

Loved my stay at the Railroad Park Resort in Dunsmuir. Wonderful to have a caboose all to yourself. Stayed in a bay window caboose which was spacious and well appointed. The grounds are set in a lovely wooded valley with soaring granite peaks in the distance. Ocassionally, a freight train enters the valley and blows its whistle to add to... More

I stayed here years ago and wanted to go back ever since. We were driving past on a road trip and decided to stop in Dunsmuir so I knew exactly where we should stay. A little pricey, but fun. Staff was friendly and the room was clean. Restaurant on site was just okay, but we wanted to continue the train... More

Did not stay in the hotel portion, but took advantage of their improved campground area with my Girl Scout troop. We nearly had the grounds to ourselves during the week. The large site we chose was next to the creek, so we got to listen to the rushing water all night -- very relaxing. We also had a close-up view... More

Originally found this spot while sightseeing, decided to return for a night's stay. The motel is actually a number of railroad cabooses and cars converted into guest rooms. They are surprisingly comfortable, with King beds and a full bath. The interiors are very rustic. The manager was very pleasant and offered several tips for local area sightseeing. They also offer...
