This camp ground is great for kids and adults we stayed in site 13 with full hook ups and a beach view. The beach is clean and the waves are small and good for the kids to learn how to surf. The campsite is located on a bluff above the beach so access to the beach is mostly stairs. They... More

We lucked out 3x from leveraging off friend's reservations and most recently scoring our own reservations back from Jan/Feb 2014 for staying here in August. Each and every time was great fun for our family. The beach is just down a set of stairs. there is a restaurant and store on site. As it is a state beach, there is... More

Camped here many times, but finally got a good spot! The upper campgrounds require a walk thru the campground or down a flight of stairs to reach the beach, and some have RV hookups. The lower sites are closer to the beach. The campground is pretty clean, plenty of restrooms and showers. The beach is pretty shallow, with decent surfing... More

When my wife tried to talk me into this place I'm like- no hookups? She's like 'it's on the beach', I'm like - so is San Felipe and there are hookups there. So we camped, and I could care less about hookups. There's lots of restrooms, showers, and most of all THE BEACH. It's a clean beach, beautiful with free... More

We wanted hookups with our R.V. Getting hookups at San Elijo State Beach, or any SoCal State Beach is very difficult as you must use Reserve America to make reservations. Type in Reserve America into your favorite browser, and you'll see the problems associated with this company. You must reserve 6 months in advance. Spots with hookups usually are taken... More

We had booked an oceanside rv spot and were shocked to find ourselves without water or electricity. The initial welcome too was a little perfunctory. In every other respect the site was very good. The store provided nachos at a very reasonable price. The beach was stunning and the crashing waves left us largely oblivious to the train noise.

Aside from the close proximity to the city, San Elijo is beautiful, nice soft sands, beautiful sunsets, great bluff for taking pics of stars ...but don't expect any kind of r&r...the trains wake me up every time. It's 3:46am and I'm on TripAdvisor...why?!? Cuz I can't sleep!!!!

This campground is right next a highway and railway!! The train runs till mid night from early morning. A lot of traffic going on the highway. 5 mins walk, you can find Starbucks, grocery store, restaurants and so on. Flash toilet is cool, the view is great, but doesn't worth for over $50. I didn't even feel like camping here.... More

Awesome surf, clean beaches, great hole in the wall restaurant. Reserve early. As in 7 months prior to when you want to go the moment they open up the "block" for reservations to get a space on the ocean side (versus the noisy, no privacy street side). If you're adventurous you can show up early day of and stand in... More

This place has some nice views if you get ocean front camp, the Inland campgrounds are ok, except for the train and not much of a view. The inland campground face the street. We saw one guy on the street hide behind an electrical box and shootup. The rely bad part is our neighboe parallel campground we rely partying up,... More
