We have stayed here many times and have always found it to be clean and comfortable. The suites truly are suites, with a door to the bedroom and a separate living room with a hide-a-bed, wet bar, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, desk, and second TV. The problem with Davis in general is that there are no decent hotels. If Holiday Inn Express would build a hotel just outside the city limits (the city of Davis is so PC that they don't allow for community upgrades within the city limits), it would seem like the Ritz compared to what the town offers currently.
