Average hotel, mediocre customer service, beds are too over used and dented inward, the air conditioners don't really work and the room smells like mildew. Great location except that our view from our suite's balcony was of McDonald's which seems to be where the homeless congregate day and night. Sad for them but not a pleasant view.

My family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed in room 321 which is a king suite with a balcony. It is a spacious room with a private bedroom and a living room/sofa bed area. It does have 2 tv's with a good viewing selection. While we went to a different beach, there is a beach within walking distance across... More

Excellent Location with very friendly staff. Hotel is across the street from the beach and the marina. I was nervous when I saw it was on a major road but we couldn't hear any outside noise, it's really well insulated. Very friendly staff and a surprisingly good breakfast. Will definitely stay there again!

We opted for a King whirlpool bed which is extremely large in size and slept out family with a rollaway just fine. Very clean and modernized rooms. The breakfast gave us a surprise as it had more than the typical pastries and toast available. Staff was helpful, parking was easy as well. This location is really close to dining/shopping and... Have stayed at this hotel a few times over the years, always a good stay. It used to be a Holiday Inn until about 3 years ago. I usually book a king room with whirlpool tub, and have been very satisfied, but thought I would book a suite this time. That was a mistake. The suites are older and have... More

We booked this hotel for a wedding weekend based on reviews. What a mistake. It's old, dirty, and has only a window type air conditioner. We booked a king suite and face the street. It's noisy with the sound of the wall air conditioner and the street traffic. Not the cleanest hotel and the bed is miserably soft. They have... More

Peter C, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Marina Shores Hotel, responded to this review

When responding to an unfavorable review, it is very difficult for a manager who takes a good deal of pride in his or her establishment not to feel defensive. There is a reason why the Marina Shores is the top rated hotel in a market that includes three 5-star resorts. The owners of this property invested over $1.5 million in... More

Best Westerns offer up lots of great real estate. This one, although on a busy stretch of PCH, is just a few minutes walk to the Dana Point Marina, where you can access restaurants and boat rides or just enjoy the vibe. The room was quite nice, clean, comfortable bed, small kitchenette. The breakfast was good. The staff was very... More

The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of the beach at Doheny State Park (1/2 mile) and the Marina (1 mile). The breakfast was good with a nice selection of items.

We live in Palm Springs and have to leave the hot desert several times each summer to enjoy the cool weather on the coast. This time, at the last minute, we decided to head to the Orange County coast for July 4th. I didn't expect to find an affordable room, near the beach in a hotel that would also allow... More

We stay here several times a year. The staff is friendly and helpful. Free breakfast in the morning, which is nice. Rooms clean and great views if you get on the side of the hotel with the ocean. Parking is easy and lots of restaurants nearby.
